Role Overview

We are now looking for an Electrical Engineer to design advanced display-like LED lighting circuits controlled by a mechanical and also an unobtrusive AI-based user interface. The resulting product is housed in components made by traditional Japanese metal craftsmen and is able to provide complex lighting experiences that are a first on the market.

This role requires a strong aesthetic sense and the ideal candidate will possess a hybrid skillset capable of handling complex high refresh rate and super high brightness LED circuit design and working with embedded systems. The position is based on-site in Tokyo, Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced display-like LED lighting circuits for our novel lighting products

  • Contribute to the development of our AI-powered user interface

  • Research and apply aesthetic lighting effects to enhance product appeal

  • Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams between design and engineering to ensure a harmonious and innovative product development process

  • Create comprehensive design documentation

  • Lead the prototype bring-up and meticulously validate the design

  • Dive deep into technical challenges, swiftly identifying and resolving issues during new product development

  • Pioneer and implement cutting-edge solutions that optimize cost, size, efficiency, safety, and reliability, enhancing the overall quality and innovation of our products

  • Safeguard regulatory requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Business-level proficiency in English

  • Proven experience in electrical engineering and embedded systems programming

  • Experience integrating wireless technology, batteries, and charging technology

  • Ability to oversee and manage projects from prototyping to mass production

  • Hands-on experience with PCB layout and design tools (e.g. Altium Designer)

  • Strong experience sourcing and communicating with PCB manufacturing companies, e.g. in China

  • Strong aesthetic sense and ability to research and implement LED-based lighting and effects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Designing displays or display-like electronic products

  • CAD mechanical design skills

  • Experience working with NVIDIA Jetson Nano product lineup
