The Role

We are developing a direct current air cooled chiller program to support our next-generation AI data centers. As an Electrical Engineer focused on ACC, you will own the electrical architecture of our chiller platform. You will be responsible for power distribution, protection coordination, grounding strategy, and DC switchgear selection. This role requires deep expertise in DC power systems and the ability to design safe, reliable power distribution for a novel architecture.

What You Will Do

  • Design the power distribution architecture, including power paths for compressors, EC condenser fans, chilled water pumps, and auxiliary systems

  • Develop grounding strategy for the system, including evaluation of various grounding topologies for DC fault isolation

  • Specify and select DC switchgear, circuit breakers, and high speed fuses for input protection and load branch protection

  • Lead protection coordination study to ensure selective tripping and fault isolation

  • Develop electrical single line diagrams and power distribution schematics

  • Specify DC-DC converters for control system for LV systems

  • Work with suppliers (ABB, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens) on DC switchgear selection and procurement

  • Create electrical panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules

  • Support UL certification efforts including NEC 480/690 compliance for DC electrical systems

  • Lead arc flash analysis and develop NFPA 70E compliance documentation

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably with DC power distribution or power electronics

  • Strong understanding of DC power system design, including protection, grounding, and fault analysis

  • Experience with power system modeling and protection coordination studies

  • Familiarity with NEC requirements for DC systems (Articles 480, 690, 712)

  • Experience specifying and selecting switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective devices

  • Understanding of arc flash hazard analysis and NFPA 70E requirements

  • Hands on experience with electrical system commissioning and verification

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with high-voltage DC systems (EV charging, data centers, solar/storage)

  • Background in variable frequency drives and motor control

  • Experience with UL 508A or UL 891 panel design and certification

  • Familiarity with Danfoss Turbocor or similar DC-input compressor platforms

  • PE license
