We are developing a direct current air cooled chiller program to support our next-generation AI data centers. As an Electrical Engineer focused on ACC, you will own the electrical architecture of our chiller platform. You will be responsible for power distribution, protection coordination, grounding strategy, and DC switchgear selection. This role requires deep expertise in DC power systems and the ability to design safe, reliable power distribution for a novel architecture.
What You Will Do
Design the power distribution architecture, including power paths for compressors, EC condenser fans, chilled water pumps, and auxiliary systems
Develop grounding strategy for the system, including evaluation of various grounding topologies for DC fault isolation
Specify and select DC switchgear, circuit breakers, and high speed fuses for input protection and load branch protection
Lead protection coordination study to ensure selective tripping and fault isolation
Develop electrical single line diagrams and power distribution schematics
Specify DC-DC converters for control system for LV systems
Work with suppliers (ABB, Eaton, Schneider, Siemens) on DC switchgear selection and procurement
Create electrical panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
Support UL certification efforts including NEC 480/690 compliance for DC electrical systems
Lead arc flash analysis and develop NFPA 70E compliance documentation
What We Are Looking For
5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably with DC power distribution or power electronics
Strong understanding of DC power system design, including protection, grounding, and fault analysis
Experience with power system modeling and protection coordination studies
Familiarity with NEC requirements for DC systems (Articles 480, 690, 712)
Experience specifying and selecting switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective devices
Understanding of arc flash hazard analysis and NFPA 70E requirements
Hands on experience with electrical system commissioning and verification
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
Nice to Have
Experience with high-voltage DC systems (EV charging, data centers, solar/storage)
Background in variable frequency drives and motor control
Experience with UL 508A or UL 891 panel design and certification
Familiarity with Danfoss Turbocor or similar DC-input compressor platforms
PE license
The salary range for this position is $200,000- $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.
