We are looking for an Electric Propulsion Subsystem Engineer on behalf of and in support to our client at their location in ​Fino Mornasco, Italy​.  

 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Provide technical expertise and consultancy in propulsion to project teams responsible for spacecraft development; 

  • Enhance support for propulsion subsystem activities utilizing Hall thruster-based propulsion technology (HT-HPR) and its critical components; 

  • Perform propulsion sub-system level analysis to provide inputs to system budgets;  

  • Prepare technical documentation to support the propulsion subsystem development, testing, and the associated project review; 

  • Provide support in developing propulsion sub-system and equipment, including design and testing; 

  • Provide support for supplier management, including requirements management, progress monitoring, and supporting project-related reviews; 

  • Identify critical development challenges and assist in their resolution; 

  • Regularly report to the Head of Propulsion and Lead System Engineer.

Requirements

Please ensure that your CV clearly explains how you meet the mandatory requirements. If it doesn’t align completely with the essential criteria, it could result in rejection. 

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Plasma Physics; 

  • A PhD in a related field is a strong asset; 

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; 

  • Strong background and specific experience in propulsion; 

  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles as they relate to fluid systems; 

  • Prior experience in propulsion sub-systems and propulsion equipment development and qualification; 

  • Experience with propulsion sub-system level analysis (e.g. gauging, cleanliness, contamination, etc.) and their methodologies; 

  • Prior experience in propulsion subsystem and equipment testing for R&D and qualification purposes; 

  • In-depth understanding of relevant technologies for this position; 

  • Experience supporting the development of HT-HPR is an asset;

  • Familiarity with space engineering standards (ECSS, ANSI-AIAA, etc), including preparation and implementation is an asset; 

  • Proficiency in fluidic system design is an asset; 

  • Experience with EcosimPRO and SPIS is an asset; 

  • Expertise in designing, developing, and validating tools and methods relevant to the field is an asset; 

  • Background in institutional projects is an asset;  

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU; 

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
