Design and deploy edge-based computer vision platforms, combining embedded Linux software and GPU inference hardware, to transform the logistics industry with innovative solutions.
Terminal builds software that digitizes, indexes, and automates the yard, leveraging best-in-class AI and machine learning. Our platform provides warehouse operators with the intelligence needed to optimize their usage of trucks, trailers, chassis, containers and personnel. These are the fundamental operating assets of commerce - and represent the last great frontier of untapped data. In the process, Terminal will address many industry-wide pain points, including compliance, manual processes, equipment location, phantom costs, and labor inefficiencies. Ultimately, Terminal will become the central nervous system for the yard, seamlessly connecting all data sources to support an extensive range of essential functions.
Our world class vision engineering team has built an engine that can process the movement of trucks and containers in real-time. It’s now time to unlock the potential of that engine by building SaaS applications that leverage the vision engine to transform the logistics industry.
As an Edge Vision Systems Engineer at Terminal, you will design and deploy edge-based computer vision platforms that combine embedded Linux software, GPU inference hardware, network cameras, and connectivity infrastructure. You will own the full stack from prototype through production — building reliable edge systems on Jetson-class hardware that ingest video from network cameras and power downstream computer vision pipelines.
This is a primarily software-focused role, but success requires strong practical understanding of hardware systems and real-world deployment constraints. The work spans embedded Linux development, device provisioning, networking integration, power and thermal considerations, and prototype hardware integration. You will work on early prototypes through deployment-ready systems and collaborate with engineering teams and site implementation teams.
Design and maintain software running on embedded Linux edge devices including Python-based system services, device provisioning and configuration, systemd services, Docker container workloads, device image builds, and OTA update mechanisms (e.g., Yocto-based images).
Integrate and troubleshoot camera systems including RTSP network cameras, video streaming and decoding, video transport issues, and hardware camera evaluation.
Integrate and validate hardware systems including NVIDIA Jetson devices, PoE network cameras, DC power systems, edge enclosures, and thermal management solutions. The focus is on hardware integration rather than electronics design.
Support connectivity for edge systems including Linux networking configuration, VPN connectivity (e.g., Tailscale), cellular routers (LTE / 5G), and diagnosing bandwidth and connectivity issues.
Build prototype devices, execute hardware bring-up, field testing, and deployment troubleshooting. Some travel may be required for prototype validation.
Collaborate with engineering teams and site implementation teams to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and deployment-ready.
