We're looking for a Dredging and Dewatering Technician to support our growing team and business development. The Dredging and Dewatering Technician with KBL Technical Services we are responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment used in dredging and dewatering operations. This role involves performing hands-on tasks to remove sediment, sludge, and water from bodies of water, industrial sites, wastewater treatment facilities, construction projects and lagoons for the oil and gas sector. The technician ensures efficient and safe operation of dredging and dewatering systems while adhering to environmental regulations and safety standards.

 

What You'll Do

  • Site Setup: Assist in setting up dredging and dewatering systems, including pipelines, hoses, and containment systems, according to project specifications.
  • Equipment: Operate, run and monitor dredging machines and dewatering systems—pumps, dredges, centrifuges, and filter presses—to remove sediment, sludge, and water from work sites.
  • Testing: On site testing is needed to ensure that we are reaching the maximum performance of the equipment and customer expected results.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance, inspections, and repairs to keep all dredging and dewatering equipment working properly at peak efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Safety Practices: Follow all safety rules, use proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and make sure work meets safety standards.
  • Environmental Care: Follow KBL environmental guidelines to reduce impact on the surrounding area, including proper handling and disposal of dredged materials and wastewater.



Who You Are

  • Have experience in dredging or dewatering operations, solids control and process knowledge
  • Must have knowledge of centrifuge ( large bowl) and dredging equipment with a good mechanical aptitude, and a good understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrates solid mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, ensuring safe operation and upkeep of equipment.



What You Need

  • Experience in dredging or dewatering operations, is beneficial
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods of time while working outdoors in all elements
  • Valid drivers license
  • Willingness to travel to locations across Western Canada on a shiftwork rotation
