Role Summary
The Director, Website Strategy and Operations owns the strategy, performance, and execution of Sophos’ global website ecosystem, ensuring it operates as a high-impact engine for brand awareness, demand generation, and customer engagement. This role is responsible for defining and delivering a modern, scalable web roadmap that improves user experience, drives conversion, and supports Sophos’ global go-to-market objectives.
This leader partners closely with Integrated Marketing, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Creative, UX, and Digital teams to bring high-quality, relevant content and experiences to market quickly and effectively. In addition to overseeing day-to-day site operations, the role drives innovation across SEO/AEO, personalization, analytics, and emerging AI-driven web capabilities, while leading and developing a high-performing global web team.
What You Will Do
Lead the management and optimization of Sophos’ website properties, ensuring the site remains the highest performing Marketing vehicle for brand awareness and demand generation by creating and executing a strategic technical roadmap to improve user experience on the site and drive business through the funnel.
Own and optimize for AEO and SEO on the site to support traffic and engagement goals across all of our global languages
Build out advanced website capabilities to drive conversions, including personalization and vector search
Team up with integrated marketing, creative, field marketing, product marketing and others to bring to life high quality, relevant content on the site that supports business goals and initiatives and drives strong lead conversion
Increase speed to market through streamlined development and publishing processes, automation and technology integrations
Create and execute a framework for best-in-class development practices for enterprise web properties
Manage agency relationships and be responsible for coordinating activities and deliverables.
Oversee a growing team of web marketing professionals, including web content producers and developers – lead training, provide leadership and mentorship, and guide in industry best practices
Understand and prioritize web requirements of cross-functional teams across Sophos to accelerate growth aligned to business objectives.
Act as internal subject matter expert and thought leader for all aspects of website management to raise the level of strategic thinking and ensure we are utilizing current techniques and tools to maximize the impact of our marketing efforts
Drive cross-functional alignment with other digital leaders in User Experience and Paid and Earned Media to maximize the impact of our Marketing efforts
Identify KPIs and establish benchmarks to measure the impact of web activities. Own website reporting and analytics that support regular insight and optimization of efforts.
What You Will Bring
8 to 10 years of experience in websites and web management
Proven experience in management and senior level Marketing with a track record of success
Deep expertise and experience building and evolving complex CMS systems, such as Drupal, Contentful or Webflow
Expertise in web analytics (Google Analytics), A/B Testing, technical and content SEO, web QA and domain/url management. Knowledge of AI as it relates to change in web and particularly AI Search is preferred.
Understanding of HTML/CSS/Javascript, UI Design, digital ADA compliance and web optimization
Experience working closely with product marketing teams, content managers, UX/UI designers, and developers to deliver world-class digital content.
Ability to prioritize and make trade-off decisions across multiple projects and across various cross-functional stakeholder groups.
Ability to drive influence and move quickly within a fast paced, highly matrixed business environment
Results-oriented with strong ability to communicate strategy, build business cases and roadmap, and analyze data to translate those findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Demonstrated success managing high performing, highly collaborative teams across multiple time zones, including Asia
In the United States, the base salary for this role ranges from $176,000 to $294,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
