Team Description: 

Join the Platform Experience team, a core group within our GPTO Engineering organization, where you will report to the Senior Director of Engineering. Our team is on a mission to provide the unshakeable foundation of trust, security, and scale for the entire Anaplan ecosystem. We empower our internal developers and external partners to build with speed and confidence. 

Your Impact: 

Organisational Leadership & Vision 

  • Lead, develop, and scale a multi-team engineering organization, cultivating the next generation of technical leaders and engineering managers. 
  • Define and champion the organizational vision and culture, fostering an environment of innovation, accountability, and psychological safety. 
  • Own the organizational design and headcount planning for the entire Platform Experience domain, aligning team structure to strategic business objectives. 
  • Instill a strong 'customer-first' and product-oriented culture within the engineering organization, ensuring that every team understands the business impact of their technical decisions. 

Strategic Delivery & Operational Excellence  

  • Own the operational and delivery strategy for the Platform Experience portfolio, ensuring your organization meets its commitments and delivers measurable business value. 
  • Drive a culture of scaled operational excellence, using metrics like DORA not just for team performance, but to guide strategic investment and process improvement across the department. 
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to maximize impact and ensure the long-term health of the platform. 

Cross-Functional Strategy & Business Alignment 

  • Define the long-term technical and product strategy for the Platform Experience, creating and presenting compelling roadmaps to executive leadership. 
  • Act as a key strategic partner to leaders in Product, Architecture, and other business units, ensuring platform initiatives are directly aligned with company-wide goals. 
  • Represent the Platform Experience organization in senior leadership forums, driving critical technical and architectural decisions that impact the entire company 

Platform & Product Mindset 

  • Apply product thinking to platform solutions, ensuring they meet real business and customer needs 
  • Champion innovation in performance, tooling, and platform capabilities 
  • Oversee design and delivery of full stack solutions spanning React, Java, and Python 
  • Forge strong, collaborative partnerships with Product Management, Architecture, and other engineering leaders to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution 

 
Your Qualifications: 

Leadership & Management 

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with 8+ years in engineering management, including at least 3+ years managing other engineering managers. 
  • Proven track record managing multi-team organization and leading them through significant process transformations (e.g., monthly to daily releases) 
  • Experience managing both technical leads/Principal Engineers and individual contributors 
  • Demonstrated ability to scale teams thoughtfully based on demand, not politics 

Technical Depth 

  • Strong software development background with hands-on experience in platform, infrastructure, or integration-centric environments 
  • Strategic understanding of modern distributed systems, including event-driven architectures and large-scale data platforms 
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and experience overseeing the development of API-first ecosystems 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate high-level business needs into clear, actionable technical strategies and roadmaps 
  • Proficiency in hybrid/cloud-agnostic infrastructure, full-stack technologies (Java, React)continuous delivery workflow and ability to guide technical decisions 

 Delivery & Process 

  • Pragmatic approach to balancing process, documentation, and speed of delivery 
  • Deep understanding of DORA metrics and their proper application to drive improvement 
  • Experience leading high-velocity engineering organisations with daily release cadence 
  • Skilled at change management and cultural transformation in engineering teams 

Communication & Collaboration 

  • Exceptional communication skills—written and verbal—with ability to influence across all levels 
  • Experienced creating executive-level strategy documents, roadmaps, and presentations 
  • Comfortable working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones 
  • Strong collaborative partnership with Product Management; proactive problem-solving mindset 

 Preferred Skills 

  • Experience leading engineering organizations through periods of hyper-growth or large-scale transformation.
