We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Software Engineering to design and architect next-generation technology solutions that address complex business challenges in the airline and travel industry. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and architecture leaders, to define and deliver measurable technology outcomes. You will guide engineering teams on best practices, mentor peers, and drive innovation across multiple product portfolios. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence high-impact projects, advance modern software delivery practices, and contribute to industry-disrupting technology initiatives while operating in a flexible, remote-first environment. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders.

Accountabilities

• Design, architect, and implement innovative technology solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including executives, product managers, and technical leaders, to propose and present solutions.
• Author documentation, diagrams, and technical guidance to support solution implementation across engineering teams.
• Partner with product and design teams to define measurable outcomes and ensure solution alignment with business objectives.
• Optimize software delivery by promoting best practices, resilience, scalability, and high availability.
• Mentor, guide, and coach engineers to strengthen technical expertise across the organization.
• Lead R&D projects and explore emerging technologies to drive innovation and industry disruption.
• Support multiple product portfolios to develop deep understanding of customer and industry needs.
• Travel as needed to other offices or client sites, approximately 25–49% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in development roles with complex IT applications.
• 10+ years experience influencing and implementing best-in-class design and engineering practices.
• Expertise in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, and product-focused software delivery.
• 7+ years designing and building enterprise platform solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Rust.
• 5+ years experience in Agile software development.
• 4+ years working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, GraphDB), big data frameworks, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and AWS services.
• Airline industry experience, including pricing data and content distribution SME.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to mentor and influence engineering teams and promote a culture of innovation and craftsmanship.
