What we’re looking for

SurveyMonkey is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Search and Web Content & Strategy to lead our global Search (SEO/SEM) and Website Content & Strategy teams. This leader will be responsible for defining how customers find us and how they experience our brand from the first click through to conversion.

You will develop a unified, holistic strategy that treats our website not as a collection of pages, but as a connected system. By bridging the gap between search intent and web content strategy, you will lead a high-impact, cross-disciplinary team (SEO, SEM, UX, CRO, and Writing) to drive sustainable traffic, engagement, and revenue growth.

What you’ll be working on

  • Develop and champion a multi-year global strategy that maximizes traffic and conversions across SEO, SEM, and Web Content. Ensure that search intent is perfectly matched with a seamless, low-friction website experience.
  • Define a clear, competitive POV on how SurveyMonkey will achieve high visibility and conversion rates within the evolving Generative Experience Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) landscape.
  • Own the overarching website content strategy, defining what content we create, combine, evolve, or retire to drive customer understanding and conversion.
  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team spanning UX, CRO, and content writing, setting high standards for quality, systems thinking, and performance impact.
  • Transform the website into a cohesive ecosystem that guides ICPs through their specific journeys, reducing friction and helping users find value faster.
  • Own the global Search budget and web content strategy roadmap, ensuring efficient allocation of multi-million dollar spend across paid channels (e.g., Google Ads, Bing) and organic growth initiatives.
  • Drive a rigorous culture of continuous testing (A/B testing) across search assets and web experiences to improve performance across the entire acquisition funnel.
  • Partner with the Data team to enhance attribution models and ensure "paid signals" are used to optimize both search bidding and on-site personalized experiences.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between Growth, Product, Engineering, Brand, PMM, and Data teams to prioritize the technical roadmap, content structure, and reporting requirements.
  • Establish frameworks and principles that help the organization scale content thoughtfully, ensuring discoverability for both humans and Large Language Models (LLMs).

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 10+ years in Growth Marketing, Search, Web Content Strategy or Web Experience; 4+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-disciplinary teams (SEO/SEM/UX/Content).
  • Deep understanding of the interdependencies between technical SEO, paid strategy, and the rapidly evolving AI landscape (GEO, AEO, and LLMs).
  • A demonstrated ability to develop a clear POV on content systems and user journeys, balancing brand storytelling with performance metrics.
  • Expert in using data signals (like SA360, GA4, Search Console) and qualitative insights to drive precise budget allocation and site optimizations.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical requirements and holistic "Search-to-Site" strategies to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of influencing across Product, Engineering, and Creative teams to deliver a unified customer experience.

The base pay provided for this position ranges from $177,395 / year - $240,005 / year depending on the geographic market and assuming a full-time schedule. Actual base pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and experience.

Bonuses and commissions may also be offered as part of the total compensation package, in addition to a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; paid holidays; paid time off; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
