The Director of Trade Operations, North America works with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate channel management and distribution solutions for a best-in-class distribution network.  This individual’s primary responsibility will be to manage the ongoing business relationship with Sobi’s third-party logistics providers (“3PL”).


The Director of Trade Operations, North America works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the customer and distribution landscape. Overseeing the 3PL function requires working cross-functionally to drive issue resolution and continuous improvement of processes. This individual is responsible for implementation of strategies that bring value to Sobi and its Trade channel customers.

 

The Director of Trade Operations, North America will excel at working cross-functionally and collaboratively with many internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, Order Fulfillment, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance and Quality.   Overseeing and managing the collaboration of internal stakeholders  and the 3PL  ensures that Sobi, with its 3PL, achieves distribution network success.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Account Management to ensure operational flow of order activities between 3PL and distribution centers/trading partners in North America.
  • Management of day-to-day operations of the 3PL and the services it provides to Sobi, including, but not limited to coordination and oversight of inbound products and inventory; storage (warehousing); order processing and distribution; inbound and outbound logistics (shipment/transportation); pack outs, DSCSA, product damage and temp excursions, etc.
  • Conducts scheduling and planning activity meetings to ensure product availability at 3PL meets direct customers’ needs; daily monitoring of direct customer orders and sales.
  • Engage with Trade customers to address questions and resolve issues related to customer account set up and account maintenance, customer orders and 3PL shipment delays
  • Contract negotiations, implementation and oversight of contractual requirements. Ensure adherence to the operational components of the 3PL Distribution and Services Agreement.  
  • Partner with 3PL to identify appropriate shipping solutions (e.g., trucks/validated shippers, EPTN lanes) to deliver product successfully.
  • Establish 3PL as an extension of Sobi Finance including matters related to AR/AP, chargebacks, return approvals and credit limits.
  • Responsible for risk assessment and mitigation of Trade Order Fulfillment Processes of the 3PL and aligning them with Sobi’s standards and practices.
  • Monitors and maintains compliance to Sobi’s standards, raising and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Develop and implement performance requirements and reportable metrics for the 3PL to measure against Sobi’s standards for trade customer’s timely access to Sobi’s  portfolio.
  • Responsible for the analysis of the 3PL’s scorecard metrics and publication of performance to key internal stakeholders. 
  • Development and coordination of 3PL performance improvement initiatives, ensuring accountability to performance expectations.
  • Drive process improvements with the 3PL, including development of continuous improvement plans and fostering process improvement behaviors.
  • Monitor SOPs, work instructions, job aids, and business rules to ensure compliance by 3PL to Sobi requirements.

 

Minimum requirements:
 

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech or related healthcare industry including management of a 3PL or related logistics provider.
  • Deep understanding of US commercial distribution, 3PL operations and healthcare environments.
  • Strong knowledge of global shipping, Incoterms, DSCSA and trade compliance
  • Experience with new product launches.
  • Experience with ERP systems, EDI trade data platforms, and 3PL reporting systems.
  • Possess 5+ years of successful account management experience with increasing levels of responsibility demonstrated.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Order Fulfillment and Logistics.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate information and to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency required in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to assimilate and develop presentations and reports. 
  • Incumbent must possess excellent written and spoken communication skills; be able to prioritize work and communicate with expediency with senior leaders; possess solid business judgment and attention to detail; ability to multi-task and problem solve to resolve issues with the 3PL, as well as internal business partners.
  • Deep experience working in fast-paced environments managing multiple responsibilities, projects and requests from internal stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of exceeding objectives and goals, as an individual and as part of a team.

 

 

Travel:  Approximately 25% of the time

The base salary range for this role is 185,000– 240,000. Each individual offer will be determined based on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, and location. Additionally, this role is eligible for both short-term and long-term bonuses, as outlined in the plan details.
