Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Product Management to lead product strategy and execution of our Pentesting SaaS platform. This critical role is responsible for the expanded services and product lifecycle of our PTaaS offering, from initial concept and market validation through successful launch and ongoing growth. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the Managed Security Services landscape, a proven track record of building and growing a platform or product from inception to Enterprise scale, and extensive expertise in developing effective pricing and packaging models for services. This role includes people management responsibilities and reports directly to the Vice President of Product Management.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
- Develop and execute the strategic product roadmap, focusing on offerings that align closely to a modern Managed Services business model.
- Conduct deep market analysis, competitive research, and customer interviews to identify unmet needs, define market requirements, and validate new product concepts.
- Lead the "build vs. buy vs. partner" decision-making process for new features and platform capabilities.
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and definition through development, launch, and post-launch optimization.
- Lead the pricing and packaging strategy for new and existing products, ensuring competitive positioning, maximized profitability, and alignment with market dynamics, specifically within the Managed Services space.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for product success and growth.
Execution & Lifecycle Management
- Own the entire product lifecycle for automated and autonomous pentesting offerings, working closely with Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to deliver exceptional products.
- Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and user stories, working collaboratively with Agile development teams.
- Drive product launch readiness, including internal training, documentation, and external communication plans.
- Monitor product performance post-launch, gather feedback, and iterate quickly to optimize product-market fit and customer satisfaction.
Pricing, Packaging, and GTM
- Develop and execute sophisticated pricing and packaging strategies for subscription-based managed services that maximize market penetration, revenue growth, and profitability.
- Work closely with Sales and Finance to model pricing scenarios and ensure the commercial viability of product offerings.
- Create compelling product narratives and sales enablement content in partnership with Product Marketing.
Team Leadership and Development
- Build, mentor, and manage high-performing, multi-disciplinary product teams.
- Establish clear performance metrics, conduct regular performance evaluations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and product excellence.
- Drive talent management initiatives, including recruiting, professional development, and retention of top product management talent.
Financial and Stakeholder Management
- Provide budget oversight for the product organization, managing expenses and investments to achieve portfolio goals.
- Demonstrate strong financial acumen and risk management skills in assessing and managing the financial health and potential risks associated with the product portfolio.
- Effectively communicate the product roadmap, priorities, and performance to C-suite executives and key stakeholders, ensuring strong alignment and support.
- Successfully build and maintain a healthy and productive relationship with the C-Suite, acting as the principal advocate for the product vision.
Market and Brand Leadership
- Establish a strong product brand and industry reputation.
- Represent the company as a product thought leader at major industry conferences, events, and with key clients.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure successful product development and go-to-market execution.
You Must-Have

Minimum Experience: 7-10 years of experience in product management, with significant experience (3+ years) leading and managing product teams.

Domain Expertise: Demonstrable experience building and managing product or platform offerings that cater specifically to a Managed Services kind of business (MSSP, MDR, etc.).

Product Lifecycle: Proven hands-on experience managing products from inception to launch, including deep involvement in defining, developing, and executing pricing and packaging strategies.

Strategy & Vision: Proven track record of driving overall product vision and aligning it with company strategy.

Executive Communication: Successfully communicated product roadmap and priorities to C-suite executives and across the organization.

Pay Range Disclosure (For US openings only)
Cobalt is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is ($183,200 - $230,000) + equity + benefits. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. The salary range may differ in other states and may be impacted by proximity to major metropolitan cities.
