The Director of People Operations Role (Part-Time).
We are seeking a Director of People Operations (Part-Time) to lead and scale our people function, with the option to convert to a full-time role after 3-6 months. This role will be responsible for building foundational HR processes, supporting talent strategy, and ensuring a strong, compliant, and engaging employee experience.
This part-time role based in NYC is ideal for a strategic HR leader who enjoys building from the ground up, thrives in startup environments, and is comfortable balancing high-level strategy with hands-on execution. Responsibilities include:
Define and lead People Operations strategy, including organizational design, workforce planning, and employee experience
Build and implement core HR processes including onboarding, performance management, and employee lifecycle management
Partner with leadership to support hiring plans, compensation strategy, and talent development
Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and best practices across regulated and high-compliance environments
Oversee HR systems, documentation, and reporting, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality
Support employee relations, engagement initiatives, and internal communications
Collaborate with recruiting to support hiring operations and candidate experience
Advise leadership on organizational health, culture, and people-related decision-making
Who you are.
6+ years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or related roles
Experience in a leadership or senior HR role, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements
Experience building HR processes and programs from the ground up
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior leadership
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
