Job Summary:

The Director of Insurance Claims is responsible for the oversight, monitoring, reporting of statuses and facilitation of claim resolutions and settlements that have a direct positive financial or other business impact on the clients.  These services will be provided for clients with a combined income excess $50K in revenue. This position coordinates the reporting and advocacy of commercial property & casualty insurance claims. Claims/Risk Manager engages in coverage review and analysis; prepares coverage reconsideration requests; coordinates the scheduling of quarterly Claims Strategy Discussions to include the insurer adjusters and/or Claims Account Executive and the insured; maintain client contacts; and analyze available loss data for claims metrics.

Essential Functions:

  • Solely responsible for large multi-family account
  • Provides effective guidance and client advocacy to the adjustment of claims for property, general liability, workers compensation, professional liability, and other lines of coverage
  • Identify potential coverage issues and provide policy interpretation
  • Review and develop rebuttal responses to issued Reservation of Rights and Coverage Declinations
  • Review of Proof of Losses / Statement of Losses on both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines claims
  • Identify claims to be reviewed with clients and carrier partners and coordinate, schedule and oversee meetings scheduled on a predetermined basis
  • Monitors the carrier’s investigation, evaluation, and settlements of claims
  • Review reserving accuracy to insure they are appropriate for exposure
  • Monitors payments on claims, including CAT claims for both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines clients
  • Assist internal and external customers by providing claim statuses, analyze settlement offers, review and resolve coverage questions, and collaborate on claims strategy
  • Directly monitors select litigated claims, including oversight of defense counsel
  • Interact with clients, carrier/TPA adjusters, independent adjusters, public adjusters, experts, and internal team members
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner following established guideline

Competencies & Qualifications: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, and insurance agency management software (EPIC) (AMS360)
  • Strong experience in risk management
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient level written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.

Education & Experience:

  • Property & Casualty/or All Lines Adjuster License in home state (required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college helpful
  • Professional Designations (AIC, ARM, AINS) preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience in handling 1st and 3rd party property & casualty claims or Agency/Brokerage Claims Advocacy/Risk Management
  • Strong commercial/personal lines multi-line claim handling experience
