About us

The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious global environmental prize dedicated to discovering, accelerating and scaling solutions to repair and regenerate the planet. Our purpose is to unleash urgent optimism and action by spotlighting and scaling impactful solutions from around the world.

We were launched in 2020 with the ambition to elevate the urgency of environmental action and drive impact through innovation. We believe that solutions already exist to address the world’s greatest environmental challenges.

Every year, we select five Prize Winners, from a cohort of 15 international finalists, each receiving £1 million to scale their solution. Our ambition is to scale hundreds of solutions by 2030, contributing to tipping points for global systems change. Through our storytelling, we aim to centre solutions and inspire people around the world to act. We are a platform for impact and a movement for urgent optimism.

Each year, we unlock regional plans and programmes that ensure our presence in each host location leaves a permanent, positive legacy.
