Role Overview

The Director of Impact Insights leads Teachstone’s organization-wide analytics, evaluation, and research work and is responsible for ensuring these efforts operate as a coherent, scalable system. Reporting to the VP of Impact, this role owns the design, consistency, and evolution of how impact evidence is generated, analyzed, synthesized, and translated into insights and evidence-informed narratives that support decision-making within the organization and demonstrate Teachstone’s impact and leadership in the field.

The Director guides a shift toward more standardized and tiered approaches to evaluation and insight that expand access to timely, interpretable data and clearer evidence of return on investment for those implementing CLASS. This work emphasizes consistency, comparability, and immediacy of insight, while ensuring analyses surface meaningful patterns and variation across settings and implementation contexts so findings can be interpreted and used responsibly.

The role brings strong analytic and evaluative expertise to set standards for rigor, clarity, and interpretation across impact work.

Role Responsibilities

Impact Insights System Design and Stewardship

  • Own the design and ongoing evolution of the Impact Insights system, ensuring analytics, evaluation, research, and insight translation function as a coherent, scalable whole
  • Define and maintain standardized approaches to evaluation and insight that enable consistency, comparability, and cumulative learning across implementations and contexts
  • Make strategic decisions about levels of evaluation and analysis, balancing broad access to core insight with depth where needed
  • Set priorities and make tradeoffs across analytics, evaluation, and insight work to protect focus, rigor, and sustainability
  • Establish shared expectations and structures that reduce fragmentation and enable scale over time

Analytics, Evaluation, and Research Leadership

  • Set standards for analytic rigor, evaluation design, and evidence quality across the Impact Insights function
  • Guide the development of consistent methods, analytic structures, and evaluation approaches that support efficiency and repeatability
  • Ensure analytic and evaluation work is designed to surface meaningful patterns, trends, and variation across settings and implementation conditions
  • Provide expert judgment on analytic approaches, methods, and data visualization to ensure clarity and interpretability

Insight Interpretation, Translation, and Responsible Use

  • Ensure findings are synthesized into clear, decision-relevant insights that can be interpreted and used responsibly
  • Establish guardrails for evidence interpretation to avoid overgeneralization or misuse of data
  • Guide the team in examining how context and implementation conditions shape outcomes and insights
  • Translate analytic and evaluation findings into evidence-informed narratives that support decision-making and learning

Thought Leadership and Field Influence

  • Oversee and contribute to impact storytelling and thought leadership grounded in evidence
  • Shape field-facing narratives related to interactions and educator practice, ensuring credibility and coherence
  • Support Teachstone’s influence in the field by elevating insights that demonstrate impact and inform practice

Team Leadership and Partnership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the Impact Insights team across analytics, evaluation, operations, and synthesis roles
  • Partner closely with the VP of Impact to align strategy, priorities, and expectations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure impact insights inform organizational decisions and learning

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in analytics, evaluation, applied research, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience designing or leading standardized, scalable analytic or evaluation systems
  • Strong analytic and evaluative fluency, including the ability to assess and guide quantitative analysis and data visualization
  • Experience examining variation in outcomes across contexts or implementation conditions
  • Experience leading and developing teams that produce analytics, evaluation, or research work
  • Ability to translate complex evidence into clear implications for decision-making and practice
  • Experience working in education, early learning, or social impact contexts
  • Master’s degree required; PhD preferred

  • Fair, Competitive Pay:  We ensure equal pay for equal work, using consistent salary bands based on market benchmarks, reviewed annually. Prior salaries, negotiation skills, or fear of conflict don’t influence your pay.
  • Salary Range: $135,000 - $155,000
