Director of Engineering - Data Infrastructure/Web App/AI Research (Permanent Remote, US)

As the Director of Engineering, you will lead by being a highly technical leader who delivers high business impact on multiple projects of increasing dependencies and ambiguity. You will lead the development of technology that saves lives and improves mental and physical health for millions of people. At Aledade, we empower primary care physicians with technology to keep their patients healthy, preventing unnecessary hospitalizations.

A huge problem; amounting to trillions of dollars of waste in U.S. Healthcare spending.
An approach that moves the needle; In the U.S., we wait until someone has a stroke, then are hospitalized. From there, no expense is spared. Using technology, Aledade changes that by enabling doctors to intervene with the proper preventive care, like blood pressure control, before it becomes a stroke.
A platform that works at scale; last year 11,000 physicians across 36 states served ~1.7M patients, saving 24,000 unnecessary hospitalizations and 120,000 visits to the emergency room using Aledade’s technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Impact: Balance short and long-term business impact by developing a decisive yet principled build-buy-partner strategy. 
  • People: Develop outstanding teams using a combination of world-class-hiring and direct-timely-actionable feedback to develop engineering talent 
  • Execution: Set aggressive yet clear goals and remove all roadblocks for the team to achieve them.
  • Collaboration: Develop strong relationships and work cross-functionally with many partners across organizations and functions, and as a result, increase the impact of the team’s work
  • Company: Work closely with company-wide engineering leaders to drive engineering excellence in our processes and systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BTech (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field required
  • 3+ years of building and leading highly complex, technical engineering teams
  • 6+ years of production-level experience as an engineer building highly scalable and reliable software. 
  • Developing and delivering a multi-year vision and strategy with incremental quarterly deliverables with cross-functional efforts that span multiple teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in attracting, hiring, and coaching world-class engineers
  • Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of the technology decisions, while delegating and empowering team members.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and project management skills
  • Align with product and organization objectives, and coordinate with cross-regional teams on delivering key results
  • Proficiency in communicating analysis and establishing confidence among audiences who do not share your disciplinary background or training.

  • Domain-specific experience
  • Data Infra: Experience managing an ML, SaaS, or data-focused platform.
  • Web App: Experience leading a full stack team which delivered best in class customer value and impact. 
  • AI Research: Experience in designing machine learning algorithms, model training, evaluation, and benchmarking with examples of well-conceived and well-executed long-term machine learning bets.

  • Working knowledge of health-tech systems, like Electronic Health Records, Clinical data, etc.
