Director of Business Development

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Ottawa, Fidus Systems specializes in electronic system design and development, with teams in Ottawa, Waterloo, and San Jose focusing on FPGA design, embedded software, ASIC RTL design and verification, hardware design, and signal integrity, among others, to deliver innovative solutions for emerging technology markets. As an AMD Embedded Premier Design Partner, we have forged strong relationships with major silicon vendors, enhancing our capability to handle complex projects. Our diverse clientele includes industries such as Telecom/Datacom, Aerospace and Defence, Consumer, Semiconductors, Industrial/Automotive Controls, and Medical. 

We are seeking a creative individual with great communication skills, a passion for Technology and Customer Service and a strong background in developing and executing business development strategies. The preferred candidate would be located within the Eastern or Northeastern USA and required to travel 50% of the time.

A look into the Business Development Director at Fidus

• Drive and close new business opportunities selling Fidus products and services with government agencies, defense contractors, and aerospace clients in the region.
• Generate revenue through prospecting, up-selling and cross-selling activities within a territory or account.
• Stay up to date on ITAR regulations, compliance standards, export controls, and industry best practices.
• Leverage existing partner relationships in the industry for introductions to new contacts.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of client’s business priorities, challenges and initiatives that can be translated into opportunities for us to win their business.s.

Attributes and Qualifications Required

• Minimum 5 years of sales experience working with semiconductors, electronic design services, embedded software or similar industry experience.
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
• Prior experience selling services in both turnkey design and outsourced staffing, for high speed, high complexity designs is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business will be considered an asset.
• Ability to successfully demonstrate the required technical competency in electronic design services or similar industries.
