BILL is seeking a Director of Alliance Partnerships to build and lead our alliances strategy. This role will establish the foundational programs, frameworks, and operating systems needed to scale a high-impact partner motion across the company. You will report directly to the VP of Sales and work hands-on to design, launch, and optimize the alliance partnerships function.

  • Establish the end-to-end partnerships strategy and operational frameworks (program design, governance, workflows, and measurement).
  • Build and deepen relationships with key alliance partners; define joint value propositions, success plans, and executive alignment.
  • Support a repeatable processes for partner recruitment, onboarding, enablement, pipeline generation, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive cross-functional execution with Sales, Marketing, Product, RevOps, Legal, and Finance to deliver partner-sourced and partner-influenced outcomes.
  • Own foundational work directly (zero-to-one execution) while setting the stage for scale; document and instrument processes and cadences.
  • Define KPIs and dashboards to measure program health (e.g., partner-sourced pipeline, influenced revenue, activation/enablement milestones, time-to-first-opportunity).
  • Represent BILL with external partners as a trusted, strategic leader; bring market and partner insights back to inform GTM and product roadmaps.
  • Meet or exceed partner qualified lead volume through partner expansion, new partner acquisition, and creative channel development. 
  • As the function scales, help shape team structure and operating rhythms; mentor and develop talent.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • 8+ years of experience with proven leadership capabilities and a track record of building new programs from scratch.
  • Strong upmarket sales background with a deep understanding of complex B2B relationships and multi-stakeholder enterprise motions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create frameworks, processes, and systems—not just manage existing ones.
  • Hands-on, strategic leadership style with a bias for action and ownership of foundational work.
  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills; able to align internal and external stakeholders on shared goals.
  • Prior alliances or partnerships experience preferred. Direct sales experience is required. 
  • Track record of developing scalable business processes and enabling cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with enterprise-level clients and stakeholders; comfort navigating ambiguity in high-growth environments.
  • Experience working within accounting software or an ERP ecosystem not required but preferred

This role is eligible to participate in BILL’s sales incentive and equity plans. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

The On Target Earnings (OTE) range noted below are remote based roles in the specific geographic zone

Zone 1- San Francisco Bay Area CA (includes HQ), New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles County
$248,500$298,200 USD
Zone 2- CA (Non San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County), Austin TX, Massachusetts
$223,700$268,400 USD
Zone 3 -Utah (includes Utah office), Houston TX, Florida, North Carolina
$211,300$253,500 USD
