Director of AI (f/m/d)

Your mission

As the Director of AI (f/m/d) at nextbike, you will be the primary architect of our future. Reporting directly to the CEO, you are here to transform how we operate as an organization.

At nextbike, we treat AI as change management from day one. Our ambition is clear: we want AI to be the foundation of our operating model, driving a reliable, efficient and tailored service for our partners and users.

Your mission is to move AI from "experimental" to "operational," and ensure it is fully embedded into our operating model. You will lead the core AI group and hold the keys to the company’s AI transformation budget, driving adoption from the warehouse floor to the customer app.

• Strategic Vision: Define and evolve nextbike’s AI roadmap. Identify where AI creates a competitive advantage—whether in Operations, User experience, or back-office functions.

• Budget & ROI Ownership: Lead the AI Core Group and manage the centralized AI transformation budget. You will lead "Build vs. Buy vs. Partner" evaluations and be strictly accountable for the ROI and measurable impact of all AI initiatives.

• Operational Value Creation: Identify, prioritize, and drive "value-centric" AI use cases across all departments to deliver projects that reduce OPEX or drive revenue.

• Organizational Transformation & Change Management: Act as the primary catalyst for nextbike’s evolution into an "AI-first" organization.

• Empowerment & AI Literacy: Design enablement programs to build AI literacy across the entire company. You are responsible for ensuring employees at all levels have the skills and mindset to integrate AI into their daily workflows.

• Market Intelligence & Scouting: Serve as the internal sensor for the latest trends in GenAI, LLMs, Computer Vision, and Predictive Analytics. You will scout for external partners, startups, and vendors that can accelerate our roadmap.

• Ethical & Regulatory Governance: Establish a framework for "Responsible AI," ensuring our data usage complies with EU regulations (including the AI Act) and aligns with nextbike’s commitment to social and ecological responsibility.

Your profile

• Extensive Experience: in technology leadership, with at least strong background in AI/Machine Learning strategy and implementation. Proven track record of delivering business results.

• Technical Depth: While this is a strategic role, you must "speak the language." You should have a deep understanding of the market, tools, applications and products.

• Business Acumen: Experience in high-growth tech, mobility, or logisticsis a plus. You understand how to build a business case and move the needle on KPIs like Cost per Rental or Fleet Availability.

• Leadership Style: A "Pragmatic Builder" mindset. You can navigate a mid-sized organization, manage (senior) stakeholders and mentor AI champions.
