Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Finance and Accounting oversees all accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, strategic planning, and the management of a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the CFO, the Director of Finance and Accounting will lead and manage the finance and accounting departments, including teams responsible for financial reporting, planning, analysis and compliance

  • Responsibilities include monitoring the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded; reviewing journal entries and account balance reconciliations; and financial statement preparation

  • Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes

  • Continuous focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices

  • Participate in strategic financial projects including financial reporting system upgrades and implementations

  • Ensure timely filing of all financial statements, reports, and tax filings, including VAT, with internal and external stakeholders

  • Interact at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting

  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance

  • Maintain the chart of accounts to ensure accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements

  • Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting

 

  • Passion for Open Source: A strong interest in Open Source, experience and exposure a plus but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited institution

  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles, including 5+ years in a team leadership and management 

  • Proven track record in financial reporting, strategic financial planning, and team management

  • Experience working in complex, large-scale organizations or companies with multi-department financial structures

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP), and tax laws

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in financial software (ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling)

  • Ability to think strategically and manage complex financial scenarios

  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • High level of integrity and transparency in financial reporting and decision-making

  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to drive change and process improvements

  • Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently on special projects
