OCUTX is seeking a Director of Market Access Advocacy to provide leadership in shaping the organization’s strategy to engage Retina practice leaders and ensure their real‑world access, reimbursement, and operational needs shape enterprise decision‑making. Reporting to the Executive Director, Value and Access Strategy, this role partners closely with internal access‑critical stakeholder leads—including Patient Advocacy, Patient Services, Payer Access, Corporate Accounts, Strategic Accounts, Analytics, Medical Affairs—and collaborates with external stakeholders such as Retina physician advocates to alleviate patient access barriers.

 

  1. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Retina practice leaders across independent groups, PE‑backed networks, academic centers, and integrated systems.
  • Lead structured insight‑gathering efforts (ad boards, councils, site visits, roundtables) to understand practice economics, buy‑and‑bill pressures, coding/reimbursement challenges, and access barriers.
  • Translate practice‑level insights into actionable recommendations to inform access and reimbursement strategy.
  • Serve as the organization’s primary voice on Retina practice access and reimbursement trends and operational realities.
  • Engage with Retina physicians who serve as external advocates for payer access and reimbursement.
  • Ensure practice insights inform pull‑through resources.
  • Support initiatives that elevate patient access barriers.
  • Represent the company at major market access conferences (i.e. PCMA, AMCP, Asembia, etc.) as well as Ophthalmology/Retina industry conferences (AAO, ASRS, etc..).
  • Provide senior leadership with synthesized, forward‑looking intelligence on retina practice trends, reimbursement shifts, and policy risks.
  • Shape launch readiness with practice‑driven insights.
  • Develop internal education and briefing materials that strengthen organizational understanding of Retina practice economics and access dynamics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MPH, MHA, MBA) preferred.
  • 12+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, which includes 10+ years with some combination of experience in market access, reimbursement, advocacy, or other market access domains.
  • Therapeutic experience in Retina.
  • Current relationships with Retina practice leaders.
  • In-depth and current understanding of the evolving US healthcare systems, payer dynamics, access considerations, and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical benefit/Buy and Bill and Medicare part B/Medicare Advantage.
  • Recent experience in product commercialization with launching products in the Retina market is preferred.
  • Outstanding planning, organizing and management skills with the ability to excel in a dynamic, growing business environment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, analytical prowess, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong collaborator and demonstrated experience in influencing stakeholders to support strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with administrative and clinical leaders in Retina.
  • Exceptional communication and strategic storytelling capabilities.
  • Understanding of the applicable legal and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to travel as required.

 

 

 

 

Salary Range
$240,000$250,000 USD
