We're looking for a Director of Machine Learning to lead a newly formed team of Engineers working to develop and enhance our marketing tool by automating the everyday SMS marketer task’s by leveraging machine learning. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day technology execution, will lead product delivery, and focus on delivering automation product improvements. This role includes interfacing with the leadership team on long-term strategy, helping engineers across the organization solve problems, and executing solutions.

- You’ll participate in the detailed technical design, development, implementation and support of web stack and machine learning and its capabilities applications using existing and emerging technology platforms.
- You'll serve as a technical domain expert in machine learning, data processing, data serving architectural design decisions, developing and reviewing model and application code, and ensuring high availability and performance of our applications.
About you
- 8 years of experience managing engineering organizations
- 6 years of industry experience using ML to solve real-world problems with large datasets
- 5 years of experience working on public cloud environments and associated deep understanding of ML tools and solutions
- Understanding of high-quality code and software engineering processes, and you foster an environment that creates them
- Translate business needs into clearly scoped ML projects, and take a hands-on approach to steer solution design and implementation

- We sent 24 billion SMS messages in 2022. That’s an average of 50 million per day
- Our production cluster contains over 9,000 containers which serve 170+ services
- Our streaming services process over 28 billion events per month
What we use
- We use a wide variety of technology and we’re always looking for the best solutions to solve hard problems.
- Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas.
- Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
- Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
For US based applicants:- The standard base salary range for this position is XXX annually- This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs
Base Salary Range: $265k - $396k
