Director, Finance

Liferaft is looking for a highly skilled Director, Finance to lead our finance team and support the growth of our organization. This role will be hybrid in Halifax, NS. 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, in this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations, supporting strategic planning, and providing actionable insights to support the company’s business objectives. You will work closely with the executive team to ensure that financial strategies are aligned with our long-term goals and help drive operational efficiency and profitability.

What you do as the Director, Finance at Liferaft

  • Financial Leadership: Lead the finance function, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and reports. Provide financial insights to guide decision-making at the executive and operational levels.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies, and key metric tracking specific to each function, working with members of those departments including the lead VP/C-level and their operation teams as needed, identifying growth opportunities and managing risks. Help define financial objectives in alignment with the company's business goals.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting processes and quarterly forecasts. Establish and monitor key financial metrics monthly and/or weekly to track performance and profitability.
  • Cash Flow & Liquidity Management: Oversee cash flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity to support day-to-day operations while maximizing returns on available capital.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Create financial models to evaluate business opportunities, investment decisions, and potential M&A activities. Provide in-depth financial analysis and support to drive business performance and meet reporting requirements for our parent company.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax laws, financial reporting standards, and auditing practices. Lead financial audits and work closely with external auditors as necessary.
  • Team Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing finance team. Foster a collaborative culture that promotes professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the company, including Sales, Product, to provide financial insight that supports business development and operational optimization.

Requirements

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (MBA or CPA is a plus).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in SaaS financial management, ideally in a high-growth, subscription-based environment.
  • Experience with Excel-based financial modelling, QBO, Float, Maxio, Salesforce and QuotaPath
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Expertise in managing cash flow and profitability in a fast-paced, evolving market.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
