Director, Enterprise Applications

Planar is seeking an experienced Director, Enterprise Applications, to oversee the planning, execution and administration of the Enterprise Applications for our company and its related affiliates, located primarily in the US and Europe. This role involves management and supervision of aligned staff to ensure optimal business efficiencies and security. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, able to collaborate closely with a wide variety of department leaders, understand how the team can further key business needs, demonstrate the ability to stay current with industry standards as well as emerging technologies, and implement solutions that support our core business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and governance for enterprise application platforms, aligning technology roadmaps with business objectives.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of ERP and enterprise systems, including selection, implementation, optimization, and retirement.
  • Partner with executive and functional leaders to translate business needs into scalable, integrated application solutions.
  • Lead and develop high-performing application, architecture, and delivery teams.
  • Manage large-scale transformation initiatives, upgrades, and cloud/SaaS migrations with minimal operational disruption.
  • Establish application standards, KPIs, and SLAs to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Direct vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and multi-million-dollar application budgets.
  • Drive application modernization, integration, and automation to improve efficiency, user experience, and business value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS or related discipline (MBA or Masters in related field preferred)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility within IT
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management experience within IT
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be strategic yet detailed and hands on as needed.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with ability to juggle multiple priorities with effective time management.
  • Capable of working within a fast-paced, dynamic and challenging environment
  • Able to manage multiple projects and sites in an objective and prioritized manner
  • Capable of securing the cooperation of corporate management, team members, internal departments, partners, customers

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Physical ability to use computer hardware/software required
  • Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Occasional travel required (less than 20%)
