OPPORTUNITY

Fengate’s Information Technology team is seeking an experienced Director of Digital Platforms. This role will partner with the business to shape the application portfolio strategy, optimize existing strategic platforms, and lead the intake and onboarding of new platforms. Acting as a trusted IT business partner, the Director will ensure that technology solutions deliver value, support growth objectives, and enable innovation.

The role will also involve collaboration with IT operations and security teams, as well as providing advisory support to portfolio companies on platform best practices and integration strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Application Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Support the firm in developing and executing a strategy for software platforms and applications to meet the evolving needs of the business and their objectives, partnering with business units to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Lead application portfolio management to identify applications to retire, sustain, replace, or
  • optimize, ensuring alignment with business needs and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with business units to define, prioritize, and deliver enterprise applications that enhance productivity and enable strategic outcomes.

Business Partnership and Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted IT business partner, collaborating across business units to understand their strategic goals and technology needs.
  • Facilitate the gathering of business requirements to inform IT solutions, ensuring that application and data initiatives align with business priorities.

Application Selection and Implementation

  • Guide and support the evaluation, selection, implementation and optimization of enterprise applications to ensure value delivery and scalability.
  • Oversee implementation projects, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, on budget, and meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience in application architecture, including designing, integrating, and implementing scalable enterprise solutions across diverse platforms.

Portfolio Company Support

  • Provide technology advisory and consultation to portfolio companies on best practices for application and data management.
  • Enable scalable and standardized technology solutions to support portfolio companies' operational and growth strategies.

Innovation and Emerging Technologies

  • Identify and champion opportunities to modernize and streamline the application landscape by assessing and integrating AI capabilities, leading the development of a strategic roadmap for technology advancement.
  • Drive innovation by staying abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and industry standards in asset management.

Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in IT leadership roles with a focus on applications and SaaS platforms.
  • Strong experience in alternative asset management and related industries such as private equity, infrastructure, and real estate.
  • Demonstrated business analysis skills, with the ability to translate business needs into effective technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in application portfolio management, including selection, implementation, and optimization of enterprise applications.
  • Experience with industry-specific applications such as Yardi, Argus, Workday, DealCloud, and portfolio monitoring/analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and act as a strategic advisor to business leaders.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience managing third-party vendors, including evaluating vendor performance, negotiating contracts, and ensuring alignment with business objectives and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Experience with leading discussions, establishing outcomes, and negotiate paths forward with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and key stakeholders in all departments.
  • Proficiency in project management and successfully delivering complex initiatives
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with business stakeholders.

LOCATION

This position will work out of our Oakville or Toronto office and is required to be in office 3 – 4 days a week.
