Director of Site Reliability Engineering  – Coupang Pay

We are looking an experienced Leader for the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at CoupangPay. In this role you will need to demonstrate strong operational and engineering excellence and be responsible for the scalability and reliability of our FinTech capabilities, across the entire fleet of applications, platforms and infrastructure. You will need to define the technical strategy for reliability in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization, and lead a talented team of engineers and DBA’s in execution. You should be able to hire and grow great engineering and operational talent, be able to manage and deliver projects with many dependencies, and be a an effective leader and communicator.

• Direct an SRE team of talented engineers & DBA’s in the development and operation of our production and development environments
• Lead the formulation of technology strategy for availability, resilience and incident response across the FinTech portfolio
• Own the Observability Platform and instrumentation best practices across all technology layers, so that teams can track and respond to the health of their apps
• Own and drive for the achievement of resilience objectives through scale and chaos testing
• Continuously enhance our procedures through learnings from  actual experiences and simulated drills
• Establish baseline resilience requirements , instrumentation standards, operational readiness gates and track adherence
• Provide seamless developer experiences in close collaboration with DevOps and Data teams
• Hire, grow & mentor talented individuals in SRE and related areas

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Required Skills and Experience
• Experience operating and supporting an internet software portfolio
• Experience with software configuration management and release engineering
• Expertise in scaling internet software, through contemporary patterns and solutions
• Knowledge of infrastructure and associated equipment
• Experience working with cloud service platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and knowledge of best practices and methods for resolving issues
• Experience with observability platforms, including for metrics, logging & tracing
• Excellent problem solving skills, leadership under pressure in incident response, and ability to mentor the same in others
• Experience leading a team and setting both group- and person-specific goals
• Effective in communication and collaboration with people of various backgrounds, skill levels, and experiences
