Direct Support Professional PT

Summary/Objective :  Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are responsible to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the individuals they support.  DSPs are supportive & compassionate individuals who are trained to care for & encourage adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities as well as individuals that are on the autism spectrum.  Responsibilities include:  adhering to the individual service plans and supporting their Everyday Lives. ​ DSPs promote & support positive relationships within ALWAYS A STEP ABOVE Inc. , all stakeholders and affiliated partners. 

Essential Functions:

• Assist individuals with disabilities with their daily living activities, meeting their concerns, & ensuring their safety. 
• Follow individuals’ support plans, including developing meaningful relationships in accordance with the Everyday Lives philosophy. 
• Administer medications according to guidelines. 
• Aid in implementing treatments, training programs, and development of behavior plans. 
• Encourage community participation. 
• Document all observations & daily progress notes in a timely manner. 
• Communicate effectively with all team members in a timely manner.
• Accompany individuals to community outings. 
• Providing premier personal care. 
• Act as a positive role model. 
• Meet all training requirements. 
• Promote the mission, vision and values of ALWAYS A STEP ABOVE. 
• Perform any additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by your supervisor. 
• ALWAYS go A STEP ABOVE the industry standards.
