About MindFriend MindFriend is an innovative marketplace platform leveraging the latest in web, app, and AI technology. We are currently scaling our platform and looking for a highly technical, hands-on engineering leader to take ownership of our entire tech stack.

Alongside the marketplace, we are developing advanced AI-driven mental health tools and an AI therapy platform to support clinicians and enhance access to care.

The Role We need a visionary leader and an expert builder. You will not only define our technological roadmap and AI strategy but also roll up your sleeves to audit, test, and guide the development team’s output. If you love staying ahead of tech trends, building scalable marketplace architectures, and ensuring code quality across the board, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall technology and product development strategy of the MindFriend platform
• Architect and oversee the development of our web platform, mobile applications, and AI systems
• Build and manage the engineering, AI, and product teams
• Review and evaluate all technical work to ensure high-quality development standards
• Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and security
• Oversee development of the AI therapy platform and AI-assisted tools
• Define and implement the technology roadmap
• Evaluate and adopt the latest technologies and AI innovations
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and system performance
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive health and personal data
• Work closely with leadership on product direction and technical strategy

Requirements

Required Expertise

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in platform architecture, AI development, and engineering leadership.

Platform & Architecture

• Designing and scaling large-scale web platforms
• Marketplace platform architecture
• API development and microservices
• High-performance database architecture
• System scalability and infrastructure design

Web Development

Strong knowledge of modern frameworks such as:

• React / Next.js
• Node.js or equivalent backend technologies
• REST or GraphQL APIs
• Secure authentication systems

Mobile Application Development

Experience overseeing development of:

• iOS applications
• Android applications
• Cross-platform mobile frameworks (React Native or Flutter)

AI & Machine Learning

Strong understanding of:

• AI product development
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• AI-powered recommendation systems
• Conversational AI and AI assistants
• AI integration within digital platforms

Experience building or scaling AI-driven products is highly desirable.

Video & Real-Time Communication

Experience with real-time systems such as:

• WebRTC
• telehealth or video consultation platforms
• secure real-time communication infrastructure

Payments & Marketplace Systems

Experience with:

• Stripe or similar payment processors
• marketplace payment architecture
• multi-currency payment systems
• payout systems for service providers

Cloud & DevOps

Strong knowledge of:

• AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Docker and containerisation
• CI/CD pipelines
• infrastructure monitoring
• system reliability and uptime management

Security & Data Protection

Experience with:

• GDPR and privacy regulations
• secure handling of sensitive data
• platform security best practices
• encrypted communication systems

Leadership Experience

Candidates should demonstrate:

• 10+ years experience in software engineering
• Senior technical leadership experience
• Experience leading and managing engineering teams
• Experience building or scaling technology platforms
• Ability to evaluate and review complex technical systems
• Experience hiring and mentoring developers
