AI overview

Join a leading team in developing high-reliability mixed-signal electronics for the world’s largest commercial SAR constellation, impacting critical intelligence capabilities.

Who We Are

ICEYE delivers space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations. This includes sovereign and turnkey ISR missions leveraging ICEYE’s world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, as well as access to data from the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation. These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy – day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.

As a trusted partner for defense, intelligence, security, and maritime domain awareness, ICEYE’s near real-time data creates a tactical advantage for mission-critical operations. Designed for dual use, the platform also serves civil protection and commercial users for natural-catastrophe intelligence, insurance, maritime monitoring (including oil-spill detection), and finance, contributing to global security and community resilience.

ICEYE operates internationally with offices in Finland, Poland, Spain, Japan, the UAE, Greece, and the US. The company has more than 900 employees, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.

Why this role

ICEYE designs, builds and operates the world’s largest commercial SAR constellation — and our electronics are the heartbeat of every satellite we launch. As an Electronics Engineer focusing on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), you’ll ensure that our satellite electronics are not only high-performing, but also robust, repeatable, and scalable for production.

You’ll work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, testing, and supply chain, helping translate advanced electronics designs into hardware that can be built efficiently and reliably — and that performs flawlessly in orbit. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence hardware quality from early design decisions through series production and on-orbit operation.

To support ICEYE’s growth, we are scaling our Avionics Team and are looking for a DFM  Electronics Engineer to join our global Spacecraft Engineering Department.

About the role

As a DFM Electronics Engineer (Avionics) you will:

  • Support the design and development of high-reliability mixed-signal electronics with a strong focus on manufacturability, testability, and scalability.
  • Also have the capability to do electronics design and testing independently.
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs to ensure designs meet manufacturing, assembly, and inspection requirements.
  • Good understanding of DfM, DfT, and DfA principles for electronic hardware.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing, assembly, and test processes
  • Hands-on experience with electronics testing and troubleshooting in lab or production environments.
  • Familiarity with standard test equipment and capability to build test setups.
  • Ability to perform structured root-cause analysis of manufacturing, test, and reliability issues.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain partners.
  • Awareness of trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to team goals in a collaborative environment.
  • Thrives in a multicultural, international work environment.

High quality electronics are an extremely important part of our satellites. The key element of your work is to verify that all the decisions are supporting that goal, all the way from component selections to system design and  the qualification of the whole unit.

You will be responsible for the design of our products, testing,  documenting,  and solving the possible issues happening during the development process, manufacturing, or later at the orbit.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of experience in electronics engineering, with exposure to manufacturing, production support, or industrialization of electronic products.
  • Experience with board-level hardware design and reviewing, including schematics, PCB layout, bring-up, and validation.
  • Good understanding of DfM, DfT, and DfA principles for electronic hardware.

In addition to the role specific requirements, we appreciate

  • BSc or MSc degree in electrical engineering( or similar).
  • Experience on leading projects and/or being a technical lead on a project
  • Comfortable with Python and scripting under Linux OS.
  • Aerospace industry experience
  • Understanding of on orbit design challenges, like  radiation, thermal behavior and continuous operation.

Benefits

  • A job that matters in a dynamic Defence Technology and Earth Observation environment with a scale-up approach
  • An independent role with a supportive and diverse work environment
  • Occupational healthcare, occupational, and accident insurance
  • A yearly benefit budget to spend as you wish (i.e. on sport, transport, bike benefit, wellness, lunch, etc.)
  • Phone subscription with iPhone of choice
  • Relocation support (i.e. flight tickets, accommodation, relocation agency support)
  • Time for self-development, research, training, conferences, or certification schemes
  • Inspiring and collaborating offices and silent workspaces enable you to focus

ICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data already available to customers. These satellites can take images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark. Information derived from these images will help our customers understand the world better and help them make more intelligent decisions. We launched the world’s first SAR microsatellite in January 2018 and have raised $152M in financing to date.We are a Finnish based international New Space company with employees from roughly 30 countries and subsidiaries in the US, UK and Poland. Our team is a tight-knit group of experts from a range of areas including engineering, software development, and radar technology. We’re innovative, driven, and strive for excellence in everything we do. We don’t listen to people who say it can’t be done: we go and do it!
