As the DevOps Engineering Manager, you will lead a distributed team of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineers to build, scale, and secure our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD platforms. This role blends technical depth with strategic leadership — driving enterprise-wide DevOps maturity, improving developer experience, and ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing delivery systems. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Security leaders to set DevOps roadmaps, define KPIs, and evolve standards for operational excellence, automation, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of DevOps and SRE engineers supporting multiple product pods.
- Define team objectives, KPIs, and professional development goals aligned with business priorities.
- Establish and maintain DevOps and SRE best practices for scalability, availability, and security.
- Partner with the Director of DevOps Engineering on strategic planning, capacity, and roadmap execution.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement across all engineering teams.
Platform Delivery & Enablement
- Oversee enterprise-wide CI/CD pipeline strategy and implementation (AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Drive infrastructure automation using IaC frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Pulumi.
- Ensure platform scalability and reliability to support high-velocity software delivery.
- Champion observability, monitoring, and automated recovery capabilities across services.
Cloud Operations & Security
- Own and optimize AWS and other cloud environments to ensure optimal cost, performance, and compliance.
- Partner with Security Engineering to embed DevSecOps practices into pipelines and infrastructure.
- Oversee IAM, vulnerability management, and configuration governance.
- Guide the adoption of multi-cloud readiness strategies where business needs dictate.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Governance
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to improve release quality, velocity, and automation coverage.
- Co-own release governance, operational standards, and incident response frameworks.
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions related to reliability, scalability, and cloud modernization.
- Translate technical improvements into measurable business impact through data-driven KPIs.
Technical Execution (Hands-On 25%)
- Contribute to critical design, automation, and reliability initiatives as needed.
- Review infrastructure and pipeline code, architecture proposals, and automation frameworks.
- Serve as technical escalation for complex cloud and CI/CD issues.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, including 2+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading distributed engineering teams and cross-functional delivery efforts.
- Strong experience with:
- CI/CD Tools: AWS Codepipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or Travis
- Containers: Docker (Kubernetes a plus)
- IaC & Automation: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Pulumi
- Cloud: AWS services such as ECS, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFront
- Version Control: Git/GitHub
- Scripting: Python (required), Bash
- Vulnerability Scanning: AWS Inspector, Tenable Nessus
- Secrets & Access Management: HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Delinea Secret Server
- Static/Dynamic Code & Pipeline Security: SonarQube, Veracode, Qualys, GitHub Code Security
- Compliance & Cloud Security Posture: AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, CrowdStrike, Splunk
- Proven knowledge of:
- Security and compliance in cloud environments
- Experience implementing observability solutions (metrics, logs, traces)
- Linux systems administration
- Networking fundamentals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, security, and product teams
