The Role:

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines. This role bridges development and operations, enabling faster software delivery, improved system reliability, and efficient cloud resource management. Key responsibilities include CI/CD pipeline management, monitoring and incident response, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and consistent software delivery.
  • Monitor system performance and health, responding promptly to incidents to reduce downtime.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Maintain security and compliance across all environments, including proper secrets management and regular vulnerability scanning.
  • Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to streamline workflows and resolve technical issues
  • Optimize cloud resources for both cost efficiency and performance.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date documentation covering infrastructure, processes, and deployment standards.
  • Contribute to release planning and execution, including defining and supporting rollback procedures.
  • Continuously assess, adopt, and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance DevOps practices.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • After 6 months you will be on a 'on-call' rota a few days a month.

Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of proven DevOps or related experience.
  • Practical experience maintaining production systems
  • Comfortable diagnosing issues across Linux platforms.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Good understanding of containerization technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Experience working with SQL for data querying and analysis

Technical Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of Bash, PowerShell, YAML, and other automation-oriented languages
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or other comparable CI/CD tools.
  • Practical background in container orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols, including load balancing, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.
  • Familiarity with DevOps security best practices, including encryption, secrets management, access control, etc.

Personal Skills & Communication:

  • Communicates complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitates smooth collaboration between development, QA, operations, and security teams.
  • Actively contributes to planning sessions, incident reviews, and architecture discussions.
  • Communicates status updates and incident impacts clearly, calmly, and transparently.
  • Quickly adapts to changing priorities and responds effectively in high-pressure situations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.)
  • Experience with SonarQube
  • Experience with JFrog Artifactory
  • Experience with MySQL, MS SQL
  • Experience with RabbitMQ
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures and technologies.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
