About Panther:
Panther is unlocking the tremendous biological powers of our skin to deliver a wide range of shelf-stable treatments. Panther’s precisely engineered microarray patches (MAPs) are focused on: i) Skin Health, treating coloration, wrinkles, scars, wounds, etc.; and ii) Therapeutics, treating ailments along the immunological spectrum, including infectious diseases, cancer, allergies and autoimmune diseases.
Panther’s MAPs are designed to deliver superior efficacy and high levels of usage/adherence, and enable automated data integration across its ecosystem of consumers, providers and treatment developers. Panther’s AI enabled platform provides personalized customer care and accelerated treatment discovery. Via advanced GMP manufacturing, direct-to-consumer distribution and consumer self-application, Panther’s MAPs are affordable, simultaneously enabling universal access and commercial success. Panther is led by accomplished tech, biotech and health professionals
Panther Life Sciences is pioneering a new class of skin health, beauty, and therapeutic products through our proprietary dissolvable microneedle array patch (MAP) platform. We believe that the skin, as the body’s most accessible and responsive organ, offers a transformative path to better health for all.
We are seeking a Device Development Engineer to play a critical hands-on role in the design, development, and regulatory readiness of Panther’s microneedle-based device platform as the company advances toward IDE-enabling studies and FDA approval.
This is an individual contributor role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of mechanical design, usability, and regulated medical device development. You will be a core technical contributor responsible for developing microneedle arrays, applicators, and device-user interfaces that are safe, effective, usable, and approvable.
You will work closely with the Senior Director of Device Development, device team members, industrial design, regulatory, and science teams to translate concepts into validated device designs that support clinical and regulatory milestones.
This role is based in New York City and requires close collaboration across functions.
Contribute to the end-to-end design and development of Panther’s MAP devices, including microneedle arrays, applicators, and user-facing components.
Characterize and refine microneedle geometries, mechanical interfaces, and delivery mechanisms to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
Support iterative prototyping, testing, and refinement of device components from early concept through verification and validation.
Ensure device designs are intuitive, safe, and robust for both clinical and consumer use environments.
Contribute to device design controls, including requirements definition, risk analyses, and verification and validation documentation.
Support IDE-enabling activities, Pre-Subs, and FDA interactions by preparing technical documentation and test data.
Execute and document bench testing and usability studies to demonstrate device performance and mechanism of action.
Collaborate with regulatory and clinical teams to ensure device documentation aligns with FDA expectations.
3–5+ years of medical device development experience, with a strong focus on mechanical and system-level device design.
Direct experience contributing to FDA-cleared or approved devices (510(k), De Novo, or PMA).
Familiarity with design controls, risk management, and usability engineering for regulated devices.
Proven ability to contribute meaningfully to device development from early concepts through verification and validation.
Strong hands-on engineering skills and comfort operating in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments.
Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Prior experience in a medtech organization, or in a high-performing device startup.
Experience with drug delivery devices, combination products, or skin-interfacing devices.
Personal traits that include: detail orientation, clear communication, collaborative mindset, and openness to direct feedback.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
Health Insurance includes Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.
Meaningful and valuable Equity (Full-time roles only and varies by country).
Unlimited PTO and Paid Company Holidays.
Some work travel may be required.
In-person events.
