The Position

The Development Associate, Spatial Data Specialist, will report directly to the Development GIS Manager and will be responsible for supporting utility-scale renewable energy project development efforts across the country. The role will focus on managing consultant-sourced geospatial data, including but not limited to cadastral data, ALTA survey products, and environmental field survey results. The Spatial Data Specialist will be responsible for ensuring external data meets Arevon’s data standards, establishing workflows for curating data within Arevon’s ArcGIS Online infrastructure, and maintaining communications with internal teams and external parties to ensure that products are being integrated into Arevon’s systems accurately and promptly.

The role will also be responsible for performing analyses to support active development activities, engaging in suitability modeling and competition analysis to support the development of new solar and battery storage projects.

The Development Associate, Spatial Data Specialist role provides an opportunity for candidates well-versed in GIS systems to gain experience in the renewable energy industry and advance their career. The ideal candidate has experience or a strong interest in renewable energy, education in a GIS-related field, and two (2) or more years of experience working in a GIS role. More particularly, candidates should have experience working with and managing cadastral, survey, and environmental datasets.

Key Responsibilities

The duties of the Development Associate, Spatial Data Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing and refining processes and workflows around the intake of external ALTA and environmental survey data.
  • Coordinating the maintenance of land parcel and survey datasets with support from the Development GIS Manager and Real Estate Department.
  • Managing and standardizing data products in Arevon’s ArcGIS Online infrastructure across the Development Portfolio.
  • Updating Arevon’s internal GIS process documentation and training resources.
  • Producing lease exhibits and other Arevon map products that meet company and professional standards, while applying established Quality Control and Acceptance practices for all data and map products.
  • Performing analysis on industry competition projects to establish a database of competing interests, utilizing both verified data and primary research.
  • Conducting suitability analysis to guide siting processes for future solar and battery storage assets.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in a GIS-related field from an accredited university.
  • 2+ years professional experience in a GIS role with specific skills and knowledge related to cadastral, land survey, or environmental data.
  • Experience transforming, cleaning, and maintaining GIS data, especially in an ArcGIS Online or Enterprise environment.
  • Significant experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS. Strong understanding of geospatial workflows.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office; ability to learn new software quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design tools.
  • Experience with Salesforce, especially with GIS integration.
  • Prior work experience in renewables, surveying, or in environmental consulting.
  • Experience administrating ArcGIS Online or Enterprise environments.
  • Experience automating GIS workflows in ArcPy and/or ArcGIS API for Python.
