Development Assistant: part-time temporary

Refugees International (RI), a humanitarian organization which advocates for lifesaving assistance, human rights, and protection for displaced people and refugees, seeks to rapidly hire a temporary part-time Development Assistant.  

This position is responsible for providing support to the Development team’s fundraising efforts including, donation processing, database management, email marketing management, donor information coordination, and other related tasks as needed.

Ideal candidates will have experience in nonprofit information management, fundraising, database management, email marketing, and/or donor operations. They also work well with diverse constituents, believe in the mission of Refugees International, and know how to execute work plans, fulfill tasks, and complete projects as needed.  

This position is based in Washington, DC, requires in-office presence for 20 hours per week for an initial three-month term.

Responsibilities

Fundraising Administration

• Processes donations checks, online, etc. - including data entry;
• Generates, personalizes, and distributes donor acknowledgements;
• Ensures that Refugees International’s EveryAction/Bonterra database entries are up to date and accurate by keeping up on data entry including pertinent user data, donor biographical information, donor activity, and event attendees;
• Schedules and tracks Refugees International’s end of year email marketing and other donor related digital emails. 
  
  

Other Duties As Needed

• Provides administrative support to other team members as necessary;
• Engages in supporting RI’s organization wide fundraising and strategic efforts.

COMPETENCIES and SKILLS REQUIRED or PREFERRED

• Willingness to learn the various functions of development and gain fundraising experience;
• Demonstrates sound organization skills, efficiency, effectiveness, flexibility, dependability, and ingenuity;
• Maintains high accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks;
• Works effectively as part of a collaborative, mission-driven team and contributes positively to shared goals;
• Experience with EveryAction/Bonterra or another donor database and email marketing software is a plus
  
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  

COMPENSATION

$25.00 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours per week.
