About Trans Lifeline
Trans Lifeline is a trans-led nonprofit providing emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis. Through our peer support hotline, Microgrants, and advocacy work, we build a resilient trans community—by and for trans people.
We’re committed to equity and inclusion across race, gender, ability, immigration status, and lived experience. It is the policy of Trans Lifeline not to discriminate in the employment of staff, or in the selection of volunteers, on the basis of race, creed, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, gender, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, financial status or HIV status. Trans Lifeline works affirmatively to build a staff and board that includes people of many different races, classes, genders, physical and mental abilities, ages, and sexual orientations.
We are here for the entire community of people who identify as trans. We find and celebrate the diversity within our community in our callers, volunteers, and staff. We strongly encourage applications from transgender, nonbinary, intersex, BIPOC, disabled, and formerly incarcerated people.
When applying, please answer the questions as thoroughly as possible to help us learn the most about you and your involvement in the community. In the 'full name' section, you should enter the name you use (you do not need to enter your birth and/or legal name).

Self-Tape Video Prompts

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself
• Your name and pronouns
• Where you’re based (city + time zone)
• A sentence or two about what gives you life and brings you joy outside of work
• Years of experience in development *(You don’t need to list your whole résumé here.)

• What breaks when it’s neglected
3. Imagine this scenario. You’re reviewing CRM data and notice that:
• Donation totals don’t match finance records

• You’re not sure if the issue is user error, a system sync problem, or something else
Walk us through:

• When you’d loop someone else in (and when you’d try to solve it yourself)
*There’s no single right answer. We’re listening for your reasoning.

• Who it was for
• What the stakes were

We’re excited that you’re thinking of applying to Trans Lifeline! Trans Lifeline is a special place, it’s an organization made for us, by us, and we take our commitment to each other and this work seriously. We try to prioritize relationships over results while ensuring that we’re fulfilling our responsibilities to our community. We strive towards a liberatory edge where our values meet our practice, especially in uprooting white supremacy and anti-Blackness . We still have quite a bit of work to do around these areas to ensure that they aren’t just aspirational hopes, but a praxis we collectively work by.
We’re growing in a lot of areas, we’re a small org with a rich and complicated history, but this place is full of so many incredible people. People who bring a vast amount of experience in their areas of expertise, people who bring so much intention and care to this work, people who are here because we want to build ourselves out of a job here at TL. We want the world to shift irrevocably around us to be a world where we’re all free and can live long, full, safe, liberated lives.
