We're looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented Developer Experience (DX) Enablement Manager to join our team. In this role, you'll be the driving force behind strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing our development lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to build and implement programs that directly impact how our engineers work, from onboarding and tooling to a company-wide culture of best practices. You'll work at the intersection of technology and human-centered design, ensuring our engineers have everything they need to be productive and innovative.

Primary Strategic Objectives

  • Elevate the Development Workflow: Focus on the "first mile" of development to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Champion Standardization: Enhance and formalize best practices through standardized guides and processes.
  • Drive LLM Integration: Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (including AI/LLMs) where they add real developer value.

What You'll Work On

  • AI Tooling & Integration:
    • Lead the integration of AI-powered tools like Cursor into each department's software development lifecycle.
    • Explore and implement automation opportunities using LLMs to streamline operational activities for engineering managers and leaders, such as drafting top-level reports and AI-based triage for platforms like Sentry.
    • Enhance our onboarding process by utilizing Cursor and LLMs to create more effective learning paths.
  • Workflow Standardization & Best Practices:
    • Utilize Developer Experience and Developer Productivity Engineering techniques to uncover and resolve key bottlenecks across the entire developer workflow — from environment setup and coding, through pre-commit checks and testing, to deployment.
    • Develop and formalize a set of guides, or "blue books," to capture and codify our best practices across the engineering organization, with an emphasis on building practical tooling rather than just passive standards.
    • Empower our monthly technology Communities of Practice (Python, AQA, DevOps) to make recommendations for company-wide tools and technology stacks.
    • Research and propose a strategy to consolidate the various code review tools and bots used by different departments into a single, maintainable product.
  • Education & Evangelism:
    • Promote modern development practices that help engineers work faster and with more confidence, from efficient debugging to making the most of productivity tools.
    • Build lightweight resources (quick-start guides, internal talks, how-to articles) to help engineers explore new workflows and tools on their own.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and maintain a standardized Developer Experience Questionnaire to measure pain points in onboarding, tooling, workflows, and collaboration.
    • Run surveys at key points (post-onboarding, quarterly pulse checks) and track changes over time.
    • Combine questionnaire insights with operational metrics like build times, PR cycle duration, and test reliability to build a holistic picture of developer productivity.
    • Apply the SPACE framework (Satisfaction, Performance, Activity, Communication, Efficiency) to balance hard metrics with developer sentiment and ensure we measure what truly matters.
    • Use findings to prioritize workflow, tooling, and culture improvements across the engineering organization.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Impact: Your work will directly enhance the productivity and satisfaction of every engineer in the company.
  • Innovation: You'll be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge AI technology into a real-world development environment.
  • Ownership: You’ll operate as a senior IC with wide cross-team influence, shaping strategy while remaining hands-on.
  • Community: You'll be the central point for building and empowering our internal technical communities.

Requirements

Who You Are

  • A Strategic Enabler: You have a proven track record of designing and implementing programs that improve engineering workflows.
  • Technically Proficient: You're comfortable writing code and can credibly discuss the challenges and opportunities of integrating new technologies like AI and LLMs. Extensive experience with Python, coupled with a deep familiarity with open-source development and methodologies.
  • A Natural Collaborator: You can influence without authority and are skilled at working with multiple stakeholders, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Data-Driven: You are adept at creating assessments of current metrics, analyzing usage data, and using insights to inform your strategy.
  • A Proactive Communicator: You can build awareness, create quick guides for self-exploration, and clearly communicate the value of new processes and tools.
