Designer Regional Lead — Bilbao

We’re currently looking for a Designer Regional Lead to lead our Phygital unit in Bilbao.

This is a senior role combining hands-on phygital ID, regional leadership, and business development, with close connection to our HQ in Barcelona.

You’ll play a key role in shaping physical-digital products, leading local projects and teams, and strengthening Nacar’s presence in the north of Spain.

Important: This position requires regular on-site presence in Bilbao, with frequent collaboration with the Barcelona team.

Requirements

-What will your day to day be like?-

You will:

• Lead the design and development of phygital products, combining industrial design, physical UX, and digital interfaces.

• Drive projects end to end, from research and concept definition to validation and final delivery.

• Design and oversee hardware–software interactions, including front panels, embedded interfaces, touchscreens, light, tactility, and feedback.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (design, engineering, UX, software, manufacturing) ensuring alignment, quality, and efficiency.

• Supervise aesthetic, ergonomic, and functional quality across all projects.

• Lead and support the Bilbao-based team, fostering a strong design culture and mentoring designers.

• Act as the main link between the Bilbao office and HQ in Barcelona, ensuring consistency in processes, methodologies, and vision.

• Manage the local project pipeline, balancing delivery, quality, and timelines.

• Contribute to business development, supporting client relationships, pitches, and new opportunities.

• Represent Nacar and Phygital in client meetings, events, and innovation forums in the region.
  

-What are we looking for?-

• +7 years of experience in industrial design, product design, or physical-digital (phygital) design.

• Strong experience delivering physical products, with solid knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping.

• Proven understanding of physical UX, human–machine interaction, and embedded or hardware interfaces.

• Experience leading projects and multidisciplinary teams with a high level of autonomy.

• Strategic mindset, with the ability to connect design decisions to business and user impact.

• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Commercial sensibility and interest in growing client relationships.

• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish (Basque is a plus).

• Based in the Basque Country or available for regular presence in Bilbao.

• Collaborative mindset and strong sense of ownership.

-Tools you’ll use-

• Core design tools: Figma, Adobe CC, KeyShot / similar rendering tools.

• Industrial design & prototyping: CAD tools (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360 or similar), prototyping and testing tools.

• Collaboration & delivery: Miro / FigJam, Notion, Confluence.

• Presentation & communication: PowerPoint / Google Slides.

• Nice to have: basic understanding of front-end constraints, embedded systems, or hardware-related workflows.
