About First Mile

At First Mile, we’re on a mission to slow down climate change by delivering smarter waste and recycling solutions that help businesses cut carbon, improve efficiency, and do good for the planet.

We’re proud to be one of the UK’s leading B2B sustainability and waste partners, working with over 30,000 businesses including Pret, Zara, and Netflix. Our brand and digital experience play a huge role in how customers discover, understand, and choose First Mile — and great design is central to that.

Your Mission

This role is ideal for someone early in their design career who’s looking to develop across brand, marketing, and UX design. You’ll work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Product stakeholders to create engaging visual content and improve the usability and experience of our digital touch points.

You’ll support the delivery of high-quality design that helps attract new customers, engage existing ones, and clearly communicate our sustainability mission — while learning and growing as part of a collaborative team.

What You’ll Own

Brand & visual design:

  • Support the consistent application of the First Mile brand across all visual assets, following brand guidelines and best practices.

Marketing design:

  • Design creative assets for marketing campaigns across digital and print — including emails, social media, web pages, pitch decks, leaflets, and presentations.

UX & digital experience:

  • Support UX design for thefirstmile.co.uk, including wireframes, page layouts, and basic prototyping, with a focus on improving usability and conversion. You’ll work closely with Marketing and Performance teams to iterate and improve the onsite experience.

Sales enablement:

  • Create and update sales assets that help clearly communicate our offering and support the winning of new business.

Content support:

  • Assist with the creation of visual content such as videos, photoshoots, blog imagery, podcast artwork, and customer-facing materials like recycling posters and window stickers.

Design execution:

  • Deliver design tasks to a high standard and on time, following our design request process and receiving feedback constructively.

Learning & collaboration:

  • Contribute ideas, ask questions, and collaborate across teams to develop your design, UX, and commercial understanding.

Our Values 💚

  • Amaze Customers – through thoughtful, user-friendly design.
  • Love the Planet – create with purpose and impact in mind.
  • Be One Team – learn, collaborate, and grow together.
