Design Engineer

TLDR

Own the design and development of Memo’s companion app for a home robotics system, shaping user interactions and collaborating on innovative solutions.

Join Us in Building the Future of Home Robotics

At Sunday, we're developing personal robots to reclaim the hours lost to repetitive tasks. We're focused on an ambitious goal to make generalized robots broadly accessible, enabling households to take back quality time.

We have spent the last 18 months building a talented team, securing capital, and validating our technology. We are now seeking passionate individuals to join us in the next phase of our growth. If you are ready to apply your skills to the forefront of robotics innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

Ab out the Role

We’re looking for a Design Engineer to own the design and development of Memo’s companion app. This role sits at the intersection of product design, prototyping and software development. You’ll rapidly explore interactions, build working prototypes, and collaborate closely with product, software and hardware teams to turn complex system capabilities into simple, intuitive experiences.

This role is especially important during our upcoming beta: The app will be how families set up, understand and command their robot. You will define how people interact with robots in a world where robots are everywhere.

What You'll Do

  • Design the Memo companion app experience: Define the interaction for how users prepare their homes and use Memo on a daily basis.

  • Prototype interaction concepts quickly: Build high-fidelity prototypes and interactive demos.

  • Develop production features: Implement core parts of the companion app so prototypes can evolve directly into real product experiences.

  • Collaborate across disciplines: Partner closely with product, software, hardware and operations to identify requirements and integrate them elegantly into the user experience.

What You'll Bring

  • A strong eye for aesthetics and flexibility to expand beyond the established design language

  • Ability to prototype ideas quickly and translate them into working software

  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers and cross-functional teams

  • Comfort working in early-stage product environments where requirements evolve quickly

  • A bias toward building and testing ideas

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing interfaces for physical devices or hardware products

  • Experience working on early-stage products (0→1 development)

  • Experience working with voice interactions and other human-robot interactions

  • Strong interest in robotics or smart home products and systems

  • Strong prototyping skills using tools such as React Native or similar frameworks

What You're Not

  • A designer who prefers static mockups over interactive prototypes

  • Looking for a role where requirements are fully defined before work begins

  • Most effective when working in narrow design scopes rather than shaping the full product experience

At Sunday Robotics, we’re building technology shaped by real people — curious, creative, and diverse. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hold back unless they meet 100% of the criteria — we don’t want that to be the reason we miss out on great talent.

Sunday is building personal robots that take care of repetitive tasks, allowing busy households to reclaim their valuable time. Our focus is on making these smart, generalized robots accessible to everyone, freeing families to spend more time on what truly matters.
