Delivery Manager

Purpose

You lead several DevOps or DataOps teams providing a set of systems and services to deliver CP R&D strategy and meet the ever-changing needs of growers. You lead the IT platforms, systems, and services that manage common vocabulary, master data, and material identity for Syngenta R&D. You drive and execute the platform strategy in close collaboration with the product owner.

You ensure that excellent IT services are provided to R&D by external technology partners, working with Syngenta colleagues. You drive the supplier relationships required for your platforms in partnership with the business, supply management and procurement.

You will be a key contributor to driving the digitization of CP R&D, constantly creating value in the short term, while keeping the longer-term ambition in mind. You will proactively engage across the IT organization and R&D with the teams that can contribute to a specific implementation.

Accountabilities

• Create, drive, deliver a cross-platform roadmap, technology, and supplier strategy in collaboration with the platform leads, leadership team and subject matter experts. This rolling and constantly updated view will be critical to our team and our stakeholders
• Accountable for implementing a robust and optimized cloud solution
• Ensure all platforms are delivering with pace by owning and driving the delivery plans, risk/issue logs and supplier relationships. Timely and successful delivery is a key success factor for the role
• Inject your experience to constructively disrupt the status quo of “how things are being done here.” Inspire and lead teams to implement automation, CI/CD pipelines and native cloud technology.
• Drive a positive and close working relationship with Syngenta’s IT teams, key collaborators, and outsourcing partners. Pro-actively communicate and engage with the CP and IT communities as a visible ambassador of IT, Digital and Scientific Data Exploitation.

Experience required for the job

• Demonstrated record of delivery in an Agile environment, with a strong focus on best practices, and a record of accomplishment in leading teams directly or indirectly in a matrix environment
• Ability to move seamlessly between scientific, technical, and operational discussions.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and running data platforms
• Appreciation of the value in data - experience in creating, managing, analyzing, or using complex data to make scientific or business decisions
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams directly or indirectly in a matrix environment
• Demonstrated skills in working across functions to bring increased business value through seeing the bigger picture, collaboration, and alignment of diverse needs
• Demonstrated ability to pro-actively understand, prioritize, and take control of a diverse range of situations and lead to timely resolution
• Good knowledge in DevOps engineering using Continuous Integration/ Delivery tools 
• An in-depth understanding of AWS Cloud solutions 
• Experienced in integrating into legacy systems and COTS solutions 

Minimum education and critical knowledge required for the job

• Post-graduate degrees in a STEM discipline
• Mindset of Agile change delivery and steady state operations (e.g., DevOps, SaFE, SRE)
• Courage to act and challenge the status quo.
• Promotes Diversity of Thinking and Experimentation
• Exhibits situational leadership and can seamlessly transition from a coach style to directive
• Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial

Experience to be gained in the job

• Continual upskilling in the latest technologies, tools, and design practices
• Good understanding of Research & Development Computing processes and scientific computing
• Negotiate effectively with R&D, business, and IT
• Build a solid working relationship with sponsors, owners, and managers of R&D IT services within the R&D business area and contribute to the success of the IT and business leadership teams.
• Build confident relationships with Syngenta internal customers
• Guide and coach in an intuitive way
