Substance is looking for an innovative and skilled Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that support various applications and data management needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust database architectures to accommodate the needs of complex applications.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and enforce compliance with data governance policies.
  • Collaborate with software developers and systems architects to provide support for application development and data integration.
  • Stay current with database technologies and best practices to enhance the efficiency and functionality of data systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or in a related database management role.
  • Proficiency in SQL, with a strong understanding of relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with database design principles, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Good understanding of database security practices and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
