About the Role
Redhorse Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to support mission-critical systems for a federal customer. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain large-scale SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments that ensure reliability, performance, and security. This role plays a key part in sustaining the customer’s data operations, improving database performance, and supporting operational readiness across enterprise systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain large-scale Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases in operational environments.
Develop, optimize, and maintain stored procedures, database models, and data structures to support application and analytics needs.
Leverage third-party database tools (e.g., Red Gate) to enhance administration, versioning, and performance workflows.
Implement and maintain high-availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery architectures to support mission-critical operations.
Troubleshoot and debug issues within production Windows desktop application environments and supporting database services.
Conduct query performance tuning, execute bulk data loading, and streamline data processing operations.
Monitor database health, capacity, and performance to sustain 24/7 availability and ensure compliance with security and mission requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments.
Demonstrated expertise in:
Performance tuning and optimization
Query debugging and issue resolution
Stored procedures, indexing strategies, and data modeling
Bulk-loading techniques and data movement
Familiarity with Red Gate or similar database administration tools.
Experience implementing disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutions.
Active Top Secret clearance required.
Ability to provide on-call support for mission-critical database systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Database Administrator or PostgreSQL Professional Certification.
Experience managing cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
Familiarity with federal security standards, including FISMA and NIST frameworks.
