Database Administrator (DBA)

As a Microsoft partner, we specialize in managed services, migration, cloud-scale custom application development, data and analytics, and DevOps – all on the Azure platform. 3Cloud is headquartered in Chicago.

3Cloud is currently seeking an Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to provide day-to-day and project-based support for 3Cloud’s managed services clients. As a SQL DBA, you will be responsible for maintaining database uptime, performance, data projects, security, upgrades or development as necessary to provide the highest level of support to 3Clloud’s managed services clients.

Core Responsibilities:

Provide remote database support for 3Cloud’s managed services clients
Aide 3Cloud’s managed services team in client onboardings guiding setup of Azure Monitoring alerts focused on SQL performance metrics
First line technical database support: tracking issues and coordinating with both client product and 3Cloud teams to resolve database issues
Develop an in-depth understanding of a client’s business model, data requirements and technology that supports it
Assessing and defining technical configuration to meet client specific requirements
Work as a DBA for multiple customers, helping with Database Migrations, High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, SQL and Windows Clustering solutions, Monitoring, Backup/Recovery solutions, Security and Performance Tuning including remediation on performance blockers
Writing, maintaining, and optimizing database functions including queries, indexes, stored procedures, views, and triggers
Assessing, maintaining, and executing ETL processes
Defining, documenting, and implementing database maintenance plans
Performing analysis and documenting existing database designs with recommendations on changes that will support maintainability and optimal performance
Assistance with software deployment and management of the technical infrastructure

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer, engineering, data science or a related field; or equivalent work experience

3-5 years of hands-on professional DBA experience
Experience and certifications in Microsoft SQL Database Administration and Development is preferred
Experience with SQL Server SSRS and/or Power BI is a plus
Experience with Azure SQL PaaS services is a plus (e.g. Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL DB, Azure DB for PostreSQL, etc.)
Moderate experience with SQL Server Analysis Services and/or Azure Analysis Services and/or Azure Data Warehouse concepts is a plus
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting production database server issues
Experience with clustering solutions for database systems
Experience with database indexing, store procedures, triggers and views
Working knowledge of Shell Scripting (either Bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell) for various operating systems
Understanding of security roles and how to implement database security
Experienced running production database server environments including: maintenance, performance optimization, backup/restore, analysis and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Administration / Active Directory is a plus
Has the ability to work both strategically and tactically in different customer environments.
Must be detail oriented and self-directed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required as well as flexibility in job role and working hours during critical deliveries and operational issues
A natural sense of urgency, initiative and a positive team player philosophy to be reflected in daily work ethics

3Cloud offers competitive compensation. In addition to base pay employees are eligible to receive an annual discretionary/utilization bonus. If you are hired at 3Cloud your final base salary is based on factors such as skills, education, experience and/or geographic location. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above includes the full base salary range for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.

Base Salary Range

$75,000—$120,000 USD
