AI overview

Develop high-value reporting solutions by transforming complex clinical data and building maintainable data products in a fully remote setting.

AT CASTOR, WE DRIVE FASTER, SMARTER MEDICAL RESEARCH

We believe that faster, more diverse clinical trials help extend the human health span and provide a greater return on investment.

We strive to improve the clinical trial experience for patients, sites and sponsors, using technology to accelerate every step of the clinical trial journey.

Our modular clinical trial platform enables the capture and re-use of research data from anywhere, anytime and helps optimize each activity in the clinical trial journey by reducing human effort with technology. From recruitment to monitoring, we help make it easier to design and deploy trials, enroll and engage patients, collect data and analyze results.

Next to being very purpose-driven, we are proud of our caring company culture. We follow our values diligently and take the well-being of each Castorian seriously.

WHAT YOU’LL FOCUS ON

As a Data Scientist, you will operate at the intersection of Data Science and Service Delivery. Your mission is to turn complex clinical data into clear, high-value reporting solutions. You won’t just be analyzing data in a notebook; you will be developing clean and maintainable code that allows  us to deploy insights into our cloud environment reliably and repeatedly. You are the bridge between raw clinical data and the evidence researchers need.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have 3+ years of technical experience with a heavy emphasis on Data Science or Analytics Engineering
  • You have a proven track record of moving beyond ‘notebook-based’ analysis to building maintainable data products.
  • You are comfortable and proficient with AI code generation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate your delivery.
  • You have  a "Product" Mindset. You don't just write queries; you build solutions. You care about how the end-user consumes the data.
  • You are database-agnostic. You understand the architectural differences between a relational SQL warehouse and a modern analytical stream like ClickHouse, and you know how to write high-performance queries for both.
  • You are committed to quality. You believe that if it isn't tested, it doesn't exist. You are comfortable using Git in a team environment.
  • You should be data-base agnostic, comfortable delivering insights whether the data lives in a relational SQL warehouse or a modern analytical stream like Clickhouse.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Extensive Python & SQL fluency.
  • Expert-level Python (Pandas/NumPy) and SQL. Experience with event-stream databases (e.g., ClickHouse) is a significant plus.
  • Some experience with cloud applications (GCP/Azure)
  • Communication Skills and the ability to clearly explain a complex data transformation to a non-technical Clinical Project Manager.
  • Experience delivering visualized insights to end users with modern frameworks like Streamlit or Plotly.
  • NICE TO HAVE:
    • A background in Stats (Biostats would be even better)
    • Experience in the HealthTech or Clinical Trials space (familiarity with CDISC, OMOP, or HL7).
    • Knowledge of GxP/FDA regulations—you understand why "audit trails" and "reproducibility" matter here.

For this role, we are primarily accepting applications from individuals in Colombia but are open to other countries aligned with US Eastern/Central time zones.
