Data Science Intern

Peripass is a Ghent-based SaaS scale-up, founded in 2016, that digitalises and optimises the logistics sector. With our Yard Management platform, we help industrial and logistics companies such as Bridgestone, Alpro and Saint-Gobain manage the complete flow of trucks and trailers on their sites smoothly and efficiently. Today, we support more than 15,000 truck drivers every day.

Each driver goes through a fixed process (such as Expected, Waiting for dispatch, Checked-in, …), with customer-specific variations and extensions (for example sub-statuses). In the autumn of 2025, we launched a first version of our Exception Monitor. This is currently rule-based (for example: create an exception when a driver waits longer than 20 minutes for dock assignment), but it is already being used very enthusiastically by our customers.

Our ambition is to take this Exception Monitor to the next level by applying data science / machine learning.

As an intern, you will work on concrete, high-impact challenges such as:

• Automatic time-based exceptions: determining for yourself what “longer than normal” means

• Stall detection: detecting when a driver gets stuck in the process

• Sequence anomaly detection: recognising deviating process paths (e.g. a different order of statuses)

The Peripass platform is .NET-based. All relevant data (such as timestamps of status changes) can be made available in an Azure Data Lake. You will be given a high level of autonomy and freedom in choosing technologies for data processing and modelling, and you will work together with an experienced team in a fast-growing scale-up where you can make a real impact. You will work under the guidance of Arne Bracke, our Product Manager and the Engineering Director.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a student at a college or university in a relevant field of studies.

• You are fluent in Dutch and have a good working proficiency of English

• You have a get-the-job-done mindset and are a good communicator

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• You see the importance of Information Security & Cyber Security and you act accordingly. Within Peripass we see these aspects as fundamental to our business, since our software automates critical parts of our clients' logistics processes
