This role will be responsible for effectively maintaining the accuracy and completeness of on-the-ground (OTG) sales data at Syngenta Canada.

This technical and hands-on position oversees and executes processes related to transactional data acquisition. The scope involves developing validation rules, analyzing data conditions and resolving data quality issues, while also overseeing data flows to improve the data acquisition process. This position will collaborate closely with the Program Specialists, Data Engineer and Master Data Management Specialist to improve customer data quality and speed. While this role is focused on ensuring the highest data quality, Syngenta offers development opportunities within our organization for individuals demonstrating strong aptitude and interest.

This is an 18 MONTH CONTRACT position and has a flexible work location and can be based in Guelph, ON, Calgary, AB, or remotely across Canada.

Accountabilities:

  • Own and execute the full data quality assurance cycle.
  • Developing and implementing data validation rules and solutions to audit and identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and anomalies in transactional data.
  • Monitoring ongoing data quality, and report on data quality metrics, outliers, and corrections, determining business impact level for data quality issues.
  • Performing in-depth quantitative analysis to identify patterns, trends, root causes of the issues.
  • Acting to resolve identified data quality issues and to support stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with and maintain a positive relationship with a third-party vendor to optimize the data acquisition process, provide feedback, and ensure data acquisition processes meet quality standards.
  • Oversee and execute processes related to OTG data acquisition.
  • Develop new solutions and optimize existing data quality monitoring, interfaces, and data acquisition processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot specific jobs of data flow.
  • Implement continuous improvement items related to the OTG Sales data acquisition process.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on data quality metrics and improvement initiatives.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Management, Math, Statistics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, data quality management, data validation, data acquisition processes, or related areas.
  • Proficiency with SQL, advanced MS Excel skills and experience with ETL processes and tools, particularly SSIS.
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes, preferably with a focus on Databricks architecture.
  • Knowledge of AWS infrastructure (S3, Redshift, Glue, SageMaker).
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and data quality tools, applied to data validation and problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail, coupled with the ability to audit data and processes to identify patterns, and discrepancies.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with an ability to investigate complex data issues, identify root causes, and derive actionable insights to improve data quality and inform business decisions.
  • Effective communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Organizational and leadership skills to manage and guide initiatives both internally and with vendors, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to communicate insights effectively (e.g. Matplotlib, Seaborn, Qlik, Power BI).

Desired:

  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • A general understanding of machine learning concepts, coupled with statistical/machine learning libraries (e.g. Scikit-learn, XGBoost, Keras).
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Salesforce CRM.
  • Authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship
