Data Integrity Lead

AI overview

Establish and govern data quality and metric reliability by creating a robust semantic layer and building foundational data integrity systems within a fast-growing e-commerce environment.

Description

Jiffy.com is looking for a Data Integrity Lead to join our growing data team and take ownership of data quality, metric consistency, and reporting reliability across the organization.

As Jiffy scales across multiple business lines, our teams rely on accurate, timely, and trusted metrics to drive decisions in marketing, product, operations, and finance. Today, our data team spends significant time reacting to issues after they impact the business—such as delayed pipeline replication, reporting refresh failures, and inconsistent metric definitions.

In this role, you will establish Jiffy’s single source of truth by strengthening our semantic layer in dbt, improving metric governance, and building foundational data quality and monitoring systems. You will partner closely with data engineering and development teams to surface issues, document root causes, and ensure critical metrics like Gross Profit are consistently defined and calculated across the business.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, a “data reliability” mindset, and the ability to dive deep into how warehouse tables are built and connected back to operational systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own metric definitions and governance across the business, ensuring key metrics are consistently calculated and trusted across reporting.
  • Build and maintain a strong semantic foundation in dbt, including well-structured fact and dimension models within Redshift.
  • Develop and improve automated validation workflows to detect missing data, anomalies, metric drift, and freshness issues before stakeholders are impacted.
  • Investigate and surface data reliability issues such as delayed replication, shipment-related data gaps, and pipeline refresh failures, partnering with engineering teams to resolve root causes.
  • Create and maintain a clear “metric bible” documenting how core KPIs (e.g., Gross Profit) are sourced, calculated, and used.
  • Implement foundational data integrity systems such as quality scorecards, metric registries, and CI/CD checks within dbt workflows.
  • Enable self-service analytics across teams by supporting reliable models and tools (e.g., Hex) that reduce dependency on ad-hoc reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data reliability-focused roles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience navigating complex data warehouse environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with Amazon Redshift and transformation/modeling layers such as dbt.
  • Strong understanding of how warehouse tables connect back to operational source systems (e.g., Postgres) and comfort diving deep into table lineage and structure.
  • Ability to write and maintain code to support data validation, automation, and monitoring (not purely documentation/governance).
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills, with the ability to clearly capture definitions, issues, and solutions.
  • Comfortable operating in imperfect or evolving data environments, with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or scaling data quality frameworks such as anomaly detection, freshness monitoring, or automated validation (vendor tools not required).
  • Familiarity implementing CI/CD best practices for analytics engineering and dbt testing workflows.
  • Experience creating semantic layers, certified marts, or metric definition registries.
  • Background supporting ecommerce or operational analytics, including shipment or fulfillment-related datasets.
  • Familiarity with self-service analytics tools such as Hex or similar reporting environments.
