The Audience and Measurement Capabilities team drives innovation in retail media by applying industry-leading data science and analytics at scale. We activate Kroger’s first-party data to enable precision audience creation, segmentation, and closed-loop measurement—advancing media accountability, performance analytics, and campaign optimization.

Job Overview:

We’re seeking a Data Engineer to join our Audience and Measurement Capabilities team. This role combines expertise in data warehousing, machine learning, AI and problem solving within a retail media network context. You’ll help scale advanced data science solutions while applying SOLID principles and CI/CD best practices to deliver impactful, data-driven capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, and maintain scalable and reusable data pipelines and data storage solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Implement and optimize data warehousing solutions to support business intelligence and analytics.
  • Apply machine learning concepts to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities at scale.
  • Build scaled data science enablement tools to support engineering processes and empower data scientists in their analyses.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by adhering to SOLID principles.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with nearshore and offshore resources to achieve scaled delivery
  • Continue individual development by staying up to date in the latest industry trends and technologies

Technical Skills:

  • Experience working on a collaborative team contributing to shared code bases
  • Advanced proficiency in Python /PySpark/SQL
  • 1+ year(s) experience working with one of the major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) – Azure preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure including Azure Data Services, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks and Snowflake
  • Strong understanding of SOLID principles, medallion architecture and best practices in software development.
  • Knowledge of API principles and best practices, including RESTful design and integration.

Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and data pipeline processes at fortune 50 scale.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in data engineering.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with Agile ways of working including refinement.
  • Familiarity with media audience creation and measurement is a plus.

  • The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest.  Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.
