Description The Data Engineer II, Systems Engineering is responsible for supporting the development and operation of IP-to-business mapping capabilities that power customer deliverables and downstream applications. The Data Engineer II ensures accurate and reliable outputs by operating data pipelines, maintaining infrastructure, and implementing enhancements under architectural guidance. The Data Engineer II plays a key role in monitoring internet-layer signals and maintaining observability across systems to deliver high-quality mapping outputs. Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the build, operation, and maintenance of the IP-to-DUNS mapping pipeline, including ingestion, normalization, enrichment, validation, and delivery.
  • Implement automated workflows that generate refreshed IP-to-business mappings at scale.
  • Analyze internet-layer signals (BGP/ASN changes, DNS behavior, hosting patterns, dynamic IP ranges, OSINT inputs) and apply established attribution logic.
  • Monitor global IP block changes and routing shifts and help incorporate updates into mapping outputs.
  • Assist in evaluating third-party IP-to-business data feeds by analyzing coverage, accuracy, latency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build scripts and tools to test, benchmark, and monitor data quality and pipeline performance.
  • Operate and help optimize internet-facing infrastructure across OVH, Vultr, and similar hosting environments.
  • Write and maintain data-processing and automation code (primarily Python; some Go, Rust, or Bash).
  • Apply operational-security best practices across systems and data pipelines. Maintain observability through logs, metrics, data-quality checks, and alerts.
  • Collaborate with data analysts on validation workflows, investigations, and edge-case resolution.
  • Troubleshoot issues spanning networking, infrastructure, and data accuracy, escalating complex design decisions as needed.
  • Skills and/or Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in; Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, internet infrastructure, IP intelligence, or related technical roles.
  • Working knowledge of IP addressing, ASNs, BGP basics, DNS, and internet routing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience provisioning and operating servers in hosted or VPS environments.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills, especially Python; familiarity with Bash required.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, large datasets, and automation workflows.
  • Understanding of operational security fundamentals for internet-facing systems.
  • Ability to follow architectural guidance while independently executing and delivering reliable systems.
  • Ability to interface independently with stakeholders across the business, including those without deep technical background.
