The Data Engineer II works as part of an agile team, setting global standards and best practices while collaborating with key stakeholders to implement, monitor, and control Data Quality Rules on our data.
The Data Engineer II drives best-in-class standards and continuous improvement initiatives across a wide range of teams and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and mentor coding standards.
Implement new data maintenance processes.
Evaluate and implement recent technology solutions.
End-to-end process ownership.
Communicate with stakeholders.
Conduct knowledge exchange sessions with technical and non-technical audiences.
Automate manual processes and develop data tools.
Build new analytical processes, providing insight to data quality issues and implementation of data improvement solutions.
Build processes to fetch data from open data sources, e.g. websites.
Research and implement modern data mastering techniques to increase derived insight on disparate data sources.
Support other data engineers with design of ETL processes, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and data lineage
Essential Skills Needed
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a technology-related field.
Strong knowledge of data transformation processes, exposure to standard and complex datatypes.
Knowledge of latest solutions in the market is a plus.
Knowledge of Data Operations methodology and data management approaches is preferred.
Knowledge of Service Now and/or Jira is an advantage.
AWS/GCP certification (including cloud environment administration) preferred.
Strong knowledge of SQL including SQL Server administration (tuning, database design and optimization).
Experience with a variety of coding tools and languages (SSIS, Go, Python, Git/Bitbucket, APIs, NoSQL).
Knowledge of Machine Learning and reporting tools (Power BI).
Understanding of security and version controls.
Experience in managing stakeholders and project plans.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
